Gauging Interest; New Roster Project

Postby wtferrell on Sun Feb 22, 2009 7:54 am

Hey everyone, since the name changing ability now exists for Rosters, I'm working on some classic rosters. Right now, I'm at a stand still whether I should do just a regular season NBA (i.e.- 97-98 Season, 96-97 Season, 92-93 Season, etc) or if people would be more interested in Classic All time Rosters.

Right now, I'm doing 1997-98, but before I get too engulfed in it, Im just gauging interest to see what more people would like.

Now with eboedit as well as name changing, this is becoming more possible. Keep in mind, that at the moment, Names can only be changed to names with the same amount of letters:

for example-Royal Ivey can be changed to Shawn Kemp, and Richard Hendrix to Charles Barkley, because they have the same amount of letters in their names. Royal Ivey can't be changed to John Stockton or something with a different amount of letters, so It's going to be tough. Also keep in mind that you can't change a players leg colors either at the moment, so they player you want to replace, has to be the same color as the player that you want to replace them with.

Like I said, just a project that i"m working with, and would love for some others to help provide cyberfaces' with ebo edits.

Thanks, WT

my vote is for all timers, it will be easier for you to find players with the same amount of letters and skin color that way.

Edit for some ideas:

First off I tried starting an association, editing a draft class scrub to become larry bird got him on the thunder (had to trade for him, ended up on the Celtics during the draft, lol)

then I exported the team and loaded it outside of the association mode. unfortunately we cant trade players off of the exported teams, however we might be able to edit the players inside of that team but i dunno

anyway, IMO this would be best if you did it in a way where it doesn't overwrite anything. So if we load the NBA rosters, Lee doesnt look like some white guy who isnt in the league anymore.

So, yea, I dunno, maybe it would be better if you looked at the legends in the legend pool. Created their best team while they played using scrubs as CAPs so it doesnt overwrite anything and then use the export team feature + custom iff CFs to distribute it to the community
Opinions are my own.

Tried using a space instead of a letter to make longer names shorter?

Ok Iv tried making names longer and Im still at a stand still. although adding bytes and setting the Hex - to 00 makes everything good. But the it offsets the structure of the other players so its a work in progress. But I'll work on it untill I run out of ideas.
