mid-range shooting, defence, and alley-oop

i have a slider that puts help d, denfensive awareness and these defensive stuff to 100... just cuz points in the paint is too easy... however, this make me feel so hard to sink mid-range shot..
oh ya im new to 2k9.
how do sink mid-range shot with these star players like kobe and etc? it seems hard for me to sink one off the dribble... unless there's a pick or my player has advantage over the opponent... and midrange is like 50.
also... i can alley oop myself.. but how to do it when me and my friend are playing against cpu?
one last thing is defense, how do you do nice blocks like the computer?... how to time well? and even tho there is lock on d, but seems hard to guard cpu when they do cross overs.. how do i stay on them?

mmm... I'm a 2k9 first timer too, but let's see

About shooting Mid-range shots... You need to try and pull off good crossovers, It's hard, you need to have really precise timing. I'm having trouble with that. I like to run some plays (by using the D-Pad) or just wait for my CPU teammates to move around.
I'm playing with the Pistons, and I love how RIP Hamilton keeps doing the curl around Wallace and shooting open.

About Defense, I think that even if you lock on D, you have to move and follow the player, and use the steal button only occasionally, as that is when the CPU pulls a crossover and goes straight to the rim. easily.

I haven't pulled off a single alley-oop yet. Maybe I should play with Orlando and feed Howard.
