Talk about NBA 2K9 here, as well as all previous games in the NBA 2K series.

There are far too many points in the paint, so I tried turning down all the tendencies that have to do with inside scoring:
- Pass to the post
- Finish strong
- Flashy passes
etc., turned those all to 0, and turned up anything that has to do with outside shooting:
Shoot mid range: 80
Shoot 3 PT: 65
etc.
I turned down the outside shot skill sliders down a bit: about 48 for mid range and 3PT, 49 for inside shots.
Sure enough most of the game was outside shooting. IF I took control of someone I would go inside, and the AI still performed dunks on fast breaks and even some inside shots, but often pulled back from the inside (C wide open but pass up the shot.) So this extreme showed some adjustment could result in a better mix of inside and outside shooting.
Note I didn't say scoring. I tried another test locked onto Noah from the Bulls. I could run inside almost every time and score about 70% of the time. Noah is not a big scoring threat, but here he is. The inside guys just don't defend with any physicality even with all defensive sliders turned all the way up.
If Shaq is in the lane, Steve Nash shouldn't be able to score unless he gets around Shaq. In this game even Nash can muscle his way into the paint and avoid three defenders for a layup. That should be blocked most of the time.
