Talk about NBA 2K9 here, as well as all previous games in the NBA 2K series.

I lowered my expectations a little bit for this game because I saw some not so great reviews, but it is UNBELIEVABLE.
Every time I give the ball to Jermaine in the post, he uses one of his real post moves, and he's got the whole arsenal in this game. It looks like you are really playing with the real player. This is the best sports game I've ever played.

I saw the core console for 349$ AUD and I got all giddy.
Hehe, that's what I'm willing to do. Except, I might end up playing BioShock, Halo 3, NHL 08, and Gears of War. Otherwise, I'd buy a 360 just for NBA 2K8 because I'm dying to play a freaking basketball sim. I might get it at the end of the month once my bastard clients finally pay me.

Hey, I can wait. I'll just play the hell out of the Orange Box as I was planning to anyway.

Ok, I played it this morning and figured it out:
In order to take control of a player that doesn't have the ball in his hand, simply when you press and Hold LB, find the guy you want to control by highlighting the green under him and then press the RB button (you need to hold LB until to have successfully pressed RB)
Once you have control of the off-ball player, you can set screens with B, and you can also change to other players also don't have the ball.
And the buttons under or above the players heads are the off-ball commands (for example, you want them to come off of a screen, you would use the command it shows you when holding the LB button).

I could look this up on OS or somewhere, or I could just see if somebody here knows - how do you throw a lob pass off the backboard in the dunk contest?

I'm still trying to get that first dunk to go down in dunk school.
I'm good as hell at jumping in the air and then protecting the ball though.

You've got to flick the right analog stick and immediately release - don't hold it in a direction. So if you run toward the hoop and move the stick left - right quickly and release that will be one gather-dunk combination. Then while the dunk animation plays out a meter will pop up and you press RT when it gets into the highlighted zone.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and hit X for dunking help.
Wed Oct 10, 2007 11:41 am
Indy, try a quick double tap in one direction starting just inside the 3 point line. I had the same problem due to the canned animations, thinking it was more timed like Live, but it will start to feel simple once you do this. Then try two quick half or full rotations.

I just started Association. Did a fantasy draft with Orlando. Starting lineup is
Penny, J-Rich, Lebron, Bogut,
Shaq.

With a Bench of Crawford(comes in and plays most of the game at PG), JR Smith, Korver, Villanueva, Aldridge, with Rondo and Warrick rounding out the 12 man roster. Yeah i got 2nd pick in the draft.
Ive played 2 games and won both. Shaq and Penny are already getting fatigued. What do i do in this situation? Sit them out a game?

I'd definitely get a 360, but Don't get the Core cause it's a rip... You cant save your games cause you dont have a HD and to play online you also need a HD, and dont you be saying your not gonna play online, cause you will. It's the best part about the 360...

Are in NBA 2K8 International teams as Italy, Spain, ecc ecc?

Yeah agreed.
I saw that JB Hi-Fi iirc are selling the 550$ model or whatever and its like $4.50 a week.
I'd so do that but I'd be paying it off until 2009

Damn. I just got a "disc is unreadable" message in the final round of the dunk contest. First the announcer stopped speaking, then after a dunk I was waiting for the cutscene to finish and go to the replay, but it stayed at the cutscene. I paused it to lookat the replay, and after rewinding a bit, it gave me the message.
Thu Oct 11, 2007 7:34 am
that's what happened to mine, and soon after the whole thing broke.
Thu Oct 11, 2007 9:47 am
Damn, can anyone tell me how to make my big men moral better? Shaq and Bogut are 70 and 72% morale. Shaq was at 71% so i thought since he was only putting up 12pts and 7 boards that maybe he wanted the ball more. So the next game he goes for 40pts and 12 boards and then it still goes down. I have his role listed as Starter - Wont lose his starting spot. Same with Bogut, these are the only two players i have that are under 75%. The rest that actually get any court time is happy, between 78% and 82%.

probably not wise as the 3 red lights might show up before then....then again, if you've got a warranty that covers it up until then, it might be worth it....
Thu Oct 11, 2007 11:54 am
The new warranty covers the red-light for good. If you get the red light at all you can send it to be fixed. I've had my x360 for over a year and had no problems.
But, like the X said, any kind of payment plan ties you down for a while. See if you can borrow the money off your folks and pay them back over time.

I've heard that the performance of 2K8 (and the graphics) on PS3 are pretty terrible, and that the 360 versions shits all over it. Can anyone confirm that?

that sounds strange....I had heard everywhere that 2k8 is virtually same on both platforms....it's Live that is the problem....

That is not true, I saw a video of the two being compared together and I couldn't find a difference, take a look for yourself:

Well with the high quality video that youtube puts out, its easy to see how they are the same.
I only have one gripe as far as looks. Jerseys sometimes look too bright, or too dark. Too dark more often then too bright. I dont know if this is a XBOX 360 thing, lighting, or what. Other then that it looks great, runs great.
Thu Oct 11, 2007 6:41 pm
If you bought a 360 now you shouldn't get the RROD. Models as of about June 07, have the new smaller chip inside them that wont overheat and wont cause the RROD.
So you should be right, but if you want to be sure get the Halo one cause that definitely has the new chip and it doesn't come with Halo, which is good (not sure if you like Halo)..

Now is there someone who could describe the "Association Mode" a bit. Is it more fun than live´s Dynasty Mode ?
Have you managed to play a whole season in 2k7 or 2k6 ?
In terms of motivation over a longer periode I found live not really good, but it was mainly because of the gameplay which should be way better in the 2k series.
How about this chemistry system in 2k, would someone plz share his experience
Thx in before
