I have now a 2 GB ram, a Nvidia 9400Gt, and a Intel P4 3.0Ghz, i can maximize all settings except the player, i can't set it to ultra high...
so... common sense?
I am asking if i can maximize all the settings including the player with a intel dual core 2.5GHz...
you can but the question is, would it be a smooth experience? the 9400GT is kinda weak you know

What do I need to go out and buy, besides a new CPU, to get the game to work decently? Not looking to spend a ton of money, but want something decent.
Tue Jan 06, 2009 10:17 am
buy a new system try making it dual core and has a minimum of 2gb of ram and you also need a decent kind of vid card try the HD 4000 SERIES OR THE NVIDIA 9000 SERIES (NVIDIA ATLEAST 9800GT)

overkill dont you think?

i had p4d 3.2 geforce6800 but this game made my buy GTX 260...now im good to play all high settings but still only 30 fps max in game play...need a new cpu (= new mobo too..)
so if like me, your pc is 2-3 years old, 2K9 is the good excuse to get new system...
only question is ... go for dual or quad, or wait for i7 prices to drop a bit ??

What do you recommend? I don't need the graphics to be in ultra high, I can live with medium. I just want to be able to play the game at a decent pace without lagging issues.

how much is your budget and what other games do you play or plan to play?
aslo, what PSU do you have? coz no point in getting a 9600/8800//9800 or higher card if your PSU cant handle it

this will be the only game i'll play...
what exactly is a PSU? lol, i'm quite new to the PC world...
Wed Jan 07, 2009 8:43 pm
PSU means POWER SUPPLY UNIT
Thu Jan 08, 2009 12:06 am
Power Supply Unit, the thing where you plug the power cord from the wall to your PC and from it comes wires that are attached to the mainboard, videocard (if any) fans, harddrive etc

but if NBA 2k9 will be pretty much the only game youll be playing, and you are not that fussy about the graphics, then an 8600GT/9500GT would be a safe bet depending on the price difference between these cards and the 9600GT. theres also the HD4670 from ATI (im not familiar with ATIs current gen offerings apart from the 4850/4870/X2 though so I cant tell you much about the ATI options except that I heard the 4670s are good entry cards)
basically any entry card of the current gen (avoid the very low end though) should do and it all boils down to your budget
here are some "ok" cards though please dont expect to max out the game and set AA and AF
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814150332and oh, avoid the 64-bit memory and GDDR2 cards please..and between a 512mb and 1gb version of the 9500GT and similar cards, if there is a considerable difference in price, then choose the cheaper one as these types of cards wont be able to take full advantage of the big memory anyway

good luck on the purchase bro
