Talk about NBA 2K9 here, as well as all previous games in the NBA 2K series.

I was playing 2k7 up until last week. I think the close ups were much clearer in 2k7, but the general gameplay is about equal. The faces and actual player models are better, as well as the animation. But overall, the graphics are bout the same, if not slightly worse.

Yeah i reckon the close up's look worse, but the gameplay and shit look alot better graphics wise imo...
The best thing about this game is all the new animations

Pdub wrote:Yeah, and each team seems to play that same way. Whoever is the ballhandler is just waiting for that backdoor cutter, and they make an incredible pass like 75% of the time.
That was my first impression. this problem is easily fixed by tweaking some sliders:
Flashy passes 1 or 0
Offensive Awareness CPU 45 (this prevents the ballhandler to find every open man or every player cutting to basket)
Def awarenes USER 60 (prevents being abused by 1 on 1 plays)
Play Passing Lanes 65 or 70 (prevents backdoor easy buckets by intercepting some of them if you switch fast to the right guy)
I strongly reccomend to use the Average joe's sliders. if my memory ain't playing tricks on me you can find them up in Op. sports forum.
The game now is THE SHIT. Best basketball game ever. period. Once you get familiar with the isomotion and tweak the sliders properly there's nothing better. i increased user midrange and 3P shooting to 55 (only difference with average joe's sliders) as i seem to suck in the shooting department. That's what sliders are for, adjust them to your style of play.

Wats up with the three point ratings being so high?
And then for players that are great shooters have average shooting ratings because they shoot a pretty poor percentage caus of the amount they take & the pressure they have...

Has anyone had any issues with missed lay ups and big men dribbling like guards?
I might have missed it... but has anyone played both 2K8 and Live? And can say which one is better or what different things do they offer?
Thu Nov 08, 2007 3:14 pm
2k8 is better. You have to play each one to feel how much better 2k8 is, its just so smooth.. Plus i hate the jumpshots on live.. Its also too easy to score easy baskets on live.. You bring the ball up, one guy gets a ring around his name, and he cuts to the basket.. You push A and aim towards him and he basically gets an uncontested lay up.. I had 22 assists with Marcus Williams (original ratings) doing this, against the Spurs. I was using Charlotte (original roster, except basically traded Felton for Marcus)

true Dean, but that is the only exploit in Live. However, NBA 2k8 failed to remove the inbounds steals, cheap full court presses, and other various exploits that make the game unbearable.
wait for my 2k8 vs Live article Sit

lol

Well, I've played both of them. I don't play online games so my opinion is just for the 1 player vs CPU play.
youtube is plenty of videos of both games for tou check out some things for yourself.
Graphically, NBA Live 08 may have an edge when the game is still, but once the players star moving the difference in favour of NBA 2K8 is huge. I think it gives the game a lot of realism (the players movements). While watching from long distance an NBA 2k8 game it looks like you're actually watching a real NBA game. the player's movement on NBA Live 08, on the other hand, is far from realistic. You can easily tell it's a game.
It's possible to "cheat" on both games. You can steal almost every inbound pass in NBA 2k8. Although this problem is a pain in the ass you can easily avoid pressing the inbound passes and play the game. In bos sliders are not good in NBA 2k8, but using average joe's sliders I'm having tons of fun and getting realistic games and scores. I haven't played NBA Live 08 enough (I've made my decission quite easily and fast this and last year and quitted playing Nba Live really soon) to tell all the possible cheats, the main problem with the game is it is too easy. Playing an average difficult level in NBA 2k8 is much harder than the higher difficult level of NBA Live 08.
It's really hard to compare this 2 games, NBA Live is far away from NBA 2K8 in the simulation department. Anyway, if you are not looking for a simulation or too much realism you can have fun with NBA live 08, some users find NB 2k8 too hard and too much of a simulation and they want a more up-paced kinda game.

Well, I want as close to a simulation to a real game as possible... there has to be a certain 'feel' to it when you're playing it. Perhaps 2K8 is the one to play then... I remember back in the day on XBox when it first came out, there was a game I liked to play. It wasn't Live and can't remember what it was. Maybe it was NBA 2K3 I think... had Shaq/Vince Carter on the cover.
And the ESPN games... I liked the presentation of games (although got old quickly)
What I like from the vids I see of 2K8 is the animation and how players and coaches all react and act around eachother. It looks great... However, I have read that big men do spin moves like guards and Shaq can hit threes better than some other players while easy layups dont go in half the time... Maybe sliders can fix these problems?

Well, I got Live 08 instead. 2K8 is still the better game, but the gap is a lot closer. I got Live because it has some features that I like that aren't in 2K8, plus I can make a dynasty.
Sit, The game you were talking about was NBA Inside Drive. I loved those games. A bit short on content, but still fun. I have fond memories of that game.

Someone on the Operation Sports forums leaked the info that Target will be doing a Black Friday sale on NBA 2k8 for $28. I'll be picking it up then i guess since it won't drop that low in price until July '08.
Fri Nov 09, 2007 3:09 pm
i would pick that up just to sell for profit if I wasn't working that day.

Ive got afew questions if anyone has time to answer then...
1) Do the rosters need alot of work to get them upto date?
2) Are there alot of missing players vets/rookies?
3) Where can you download roster updates for the ps3, i couldnt see any at the 2k forums.
4) Are all the courts upto date in 2k8? hated the fact that live 08 didnt update the hawks and raptors courts.
5) Do you have a choice of headband colors this year or is it still white at home for most teams?

1. The rosters do need a fair bit of work. yes...
2. There aren't many missing rookies i dont think... The whole first round or so should be there, possibly more///
3. The Playstation Network should have roster updates when there available, just like Xbox Live does...
4. The courts are up to date as of the end of last year i think... Like the new Nuggets logo isn't on there and stuff...
5. Sorry, only white still... Sucks i know

If you are registered to Operation Sports (it's free) you can download Opening Night Rosters for the PS3 (like I did, ask if you need help plus it is free to download stuff) and just use your USB and plug it into the PS3 (Just ask if you need help with this too).

Did you get the email and click on the link? (I could give you the file if you want, if it doesn't break the forum rules).

Yeah, I've wondered how you do that too. I THINK you can't, but I'm not 100% sure.

Ok so i got my US copy of 2k8 off ebay today knowing that its region free so it should work which it does put its in black and white
Anyone know how to fix this?
Wed Nov 14, 2007 10:10 am
The manual for the PS3 is useless. Does anyone have a link to a complete moves list?
Wed Nov 14, 2007 5:19 pm
Look at the moves (there are videos on it) for the 360, that left analoge stick on the 360 is the same for the PS3.

Yeah that happened to my friend, in the exact same situation. I think it's because your TV is a different region to the game...
Try a different TV if possible...?

I played 2k8 last night on my sister's 360....was more impressed with it than 2k7, that's for sure....animations seem a bit better, ai seems a bit smarter....I was loving that when I played with Phoenix & ran the ball, it was a thing of beauty....I struggled when using Kings though....Dirk killed me in a matchup against Mavs in Dallas....overall, looks quite good....

Has anyone on the PS3 used the Reelmaker and uploaded it? How do you do that and what are the names of the ones you did, I'd like to watch them, and upload mine.
