I think I got only 5 hours of sleep everyday since I bought NBA 2K8. This game has to be the best basketball game ever. I play this shit in High Definition 52' inch Plasma and set this bad boy on my 7.1 surround sound. This game makes EA look like shit when making basketball games.

Got my copy today from JB. It is absolutely sick :o
Of course it's better than 2k7, i couldnt even play 2k7 after playing the 2k8 demo.
I just cant compare the 2...

Scotty, fill us in on more....I enjoyed 2k6 but thought 2k7 was just average & not as fun....

I went to JB at Chadstone at 3pm and they didn't have it in yet. Was pissed off. I went to EB as well and they had sold out even though their website said they had several copies in stock. So I gave them an earful.

Well i rang up EB on Thursday to see if it was out, cause they said first week of November and they said they'd been selling it since Wednesday and they'd sold out. I didn't care cause i jus wanted to know if it was out and i wouldnt of bought it there for there rip off prices anyway...
So i ran JB and they hadn't even gotten there's out of the box, cause they were due to release it friday, so he put one a side for me and i got it friday... :o

ok The X.
Well first of all i played a quick match as Denver vs Boston, all settings on default. I'm liking a change to the commentary, even if it is a slight one... Love all the new crossover, shooting, adjustment etc. animations. (Iverson has a far superior crossover then everyone else)

This year there's some emotion in the players, where as in 2k7 even on a buzzer beater they wouldn't celebrate or anything and that's all changed...
I had a closeish match with the T-Wolves on All Star (the game is much harder this year) and just the plays coming up to the end of the game got more intense, the commentators are talking about how big these FT's are and everything it was pretty sweet.
Hmm it's really hard to explain the difference until you play it, but a true 2k fan will notice the difference straight away...
I was happy that they fixed Melo's shot, Camby shot and JR's shot, so dont think some of the dodgy jump shots are still there, they've fixed most of them as far as i know... And the shots feel much smoother than last, more fluid and realistic...

The Association has alot of new features, which is good, including the player roles and the thing where u spread your minutes between the players and there's much more...

Another good thing is at the end of the match there's a few things you can do. There's the top 3 plays, hotzone's, signature player highlights (all the highlights of any player and a few other things for the better...

Any questions just ask
:)

Phew....On Thursday i was lucky enough to get the last copy of 2K8.
This game is unbelievable. More than your money's worth. (Y)
Once you get the hang of this game you won't get of it.

Once question, how do I do dribbling moves!? Ain't had much time to play around with the game yet, but I can't seem to crossover/spin etc.?

Well hopefully this game comes in somewhere in my area on Monday. Cause with the NBA season started I'm gagging to get an Association underway.

My sister's bf is getting it on 360 soon I think, so I might give it a run & see if worth getting....

How do you get the play diagram on-court?

Sun Nov 04, 2007 5:28 pm

There's an option in coaching options for "Run The Play", set it to Manual then use the d-pad to select a play when you've got the ball.

So who's got 2K8 on PS2??? I might get it actually... how much did you guys pay for it?

Mon Nov 05, 2007 10:49 am

I have a problem with 2K8....When i go for and intentional foul, the refs don't call it and the ball drops and either my team or their team picks it up. :?

Most of us have it on 360, it's not really worth getting non next gen...
and that's strange ultimateplaya, that doesn't happen to me :?

Got my hands on it. Was only $79AU at JB Hifi. What's even better is I got $35 for 2k7 there, so it was only $44 dollars in the end. Good deal. Now I'm going to play and get my first impressions.

Mon Nov 05, 2007 5:21 pm

Thanks Scotty, yeh looked at some reviews and decided i wont waste my money on a non current gen game...

nice work there....let me know how it is

Played 2 games last night, so I will give some brief impressions:

- Graphics have seemed to regressed, but animations have improved
- Gameplay is as good as ever. Seems to have improved again this year, but nothing major.
- New controls are good, but I'm struggling to get used to them. Still trying to set screens like 2k7 and so on
- Wish the rosters were a bit more up to date. Will spend some spare time using CAPS from Operation Sport to get things ready for an Association.
- Played the Bucks against the Kings and lost a close one, then played a game against the Magic and got done by 20 (they were amazing - Howard and Lewis killed me). Going to mix up the sliders a bit to get some more foul calls and realism, and hopefully my skills will improve with practice.
- The most annoying thing about the game is the booklet that comes with it. No detail at all. Doesn't explain how to use the new features in Association or things like Lock Down D. Guess trial and error is a nust.
- The Lock Down D feature seems cool. Helps point guard penetration greatly, which was a problem last year. On offence I have found it hard driving/cutting to the ring for easy shots, which is good and bad. The post-play is cool, Bogut looks real doing his left handed baby hook and his off the glass touch lay-ups.

All in all, another good iteration. Will have more of an opinion with greater playing time and when I get a better grasp of the gameplay. Overall, very happy!

1. What/How do you use a "CAPS" and/or what does it stand for?
2. Can you please give me a link. :D

Tue Nov 06, 2007 6:51 pm

1. CAPs are Create a Player. So basically, you get the players ratings and make them in the game yourself.

2. Best place I have found in the operation sports forums. Think you have to join up, but they have CAPs and some good sliders too. LINK

Thanks for the link Ty-Land, I was able to get a opening night roster for my PS3!

BTW, 200 posts  (Highest no. of posts I've ever had in a forum)

If you think they've regressed, check out some 2k7 videos on Gametrailers to refresh your memory. It's just that they were never very good to begin with.
