I have no issues with Live 08 on my amd athlon 64 processor 3500 2.2GHz single core processor, would this be able to run NBA2K9 without any issues?

It´s not so much about the CPU, it depends more on the graphics card. Which one do you have?

Wed Oct 08, 2008 2:43 am

Yeah, I just looked up the GTX 280 and it's like 400-500 dollars. I don't know where you got your information from, Kris.

it is one of the best and it only cost = $189.99

Where???!!! It's gotta be stolen off the back of a truck. The cheapest 280 I've seen is around $270. I've been looking at vcards - either the Radeon 4850 for $140 (after rebate) or the GTX 260 that el badman has for around $220 (after rebate).

I second that. Newegg, ZipZoomFly, or Tigerdirect. Newegg is my absolute favorite. I don't even bother, I just sign my paycheck over to them.

People, if you're too lazy to check yourself, give me the specs on your machine and I'll recommend a video card to upgrade to.

I need to know your

CPU
Bus: (AGP or PCI Express or (uggh) PCI
Wattage of your PSU
approximate budget

Wed Oct 08, 2008 3:02 pm

2.2 dual core
in regards to bus is this what you are looking for?
"Expansion Slots
One PCI Express® x1
One PCI Express® x16
Two PCI 2.3 "
300 watts
as low as possible. i currently have a nvidia geforce 7100 nforce 630i built into my motherboard

Wed Oct 08, 2008 6:56 pm

hoho thanks dude

maaybe i'll get it soon =))

can't wait for the 2k,and by the way

my specs is

core two duo 3.0 GHZ, 1 gigs DDR2 memory, current VGA is ATI radeon X550 512 MB hypermemory and ASUS motherboard,by the way, can i use two VGA at a same time?

- Intel Pentuim Dual Core 3.00 GHZ
- 4 GB of RAM DDR 2
- nvidia 8600 GTS 512 MB

so what do you think guys ?

Wed Oct 08, 2008 10:33 pm

Except you're forgetting again about the motherboard (what version of PCI-E does it use? pretty much much none of the recent cards are AGP anymore), and whether it (and the case itself) allows for the large sized cards that you find these days. Not everyone has a mobo that's compatible with the latest VGAs, and not everyone has a huge case that has enough space for 9-10'' long cards...
You can't possibly recommend a card without that info mate :)

ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 CrossFire will eat that card alive  :D

HD 4870 is funny in comparing with GF GTX 280 1gig 512 bit graphic card.

GF GTX 280 is the best graphic card on the market.

in comparing one card to one card gtx280 eat hd4870 for sure.

It's not even close to $189.99, its double more.

Anyway, just upgraded whole system, can't wait to play the game.

Thu Oct 09, 2008 12:56 am

He was talking about the HD 4870 X2, which is in fact the fastest card on the market. Check out the latest benchmarks.
It's also heavy as fuck, noisy, power hungry and gets really hot, as usual with ATI's monster VGAs, so for the performance and price differences, I'd still go for a GTX260 or 280 anytime.

Yeah, that's what I need. It would help if I knew what your CPU was. But without that, given that your PSU is slightly underpowered at 300 watts, I'd go for this guy here:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814121243

After rebate and shipping, it's $44 and comes with free World of Warcraft. That will give you a night and day difference with your integrated graphics. Trust me.

If you want a little more card, step up to this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814131096

Or this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814121274

The important thing to remember is that the chip model determines the card speed, not the brand. All the brands are relatively generic. So if you buy a Radeon 3650 for instance, get the cheapest one after the rebate. It'll run at the same speed as a Radeon 3650 costing $20 more. (for the pros, I'm ignoring overclocking cause you can OC the cheaper card too.)

See my recommendations above. Forget the 7200. That card is utterly useless. For $44, you can get a card that's about 15x more powerful.

For one benchmark, look at this chart to see where your card stands and how much an upgrade to another card will help you out. As you can see, a 7200 is so bad it's not even on the chart. That's about a 6 year old card.

I know, but I wasn't going to recommend anyone to get a really big video card (GTX280 or Radeon 4870). I figure if they're asking ME for advice, they don't have a super high end machine and those long cards would be wasted on their systems. Also, on most benchmarks, PCI Express x8 vs. x16 doesn't make that big of a difference if any simply cause I don't think there are cards out there yet that use the full x16 bandwidth. I could be wrong.

I think as long as the MB has an AGP or PCI Express slot, they can use any of the middle of the line cards to upgrade.

Video card hierarchy chart. As simple as it gets. If you can't be bothered to read reviews like the rest of us dorks.

I don't believe this to be accurate, all the recent cards do exploit the PCI-E x16 interface very efficiently, even cards that are 2-3 years old as a matter of fact.
I know not everyone would go for a high-end card anyway, but even for mid-range cards, if they've been released in the last year and a half or so, they most likely use a PCI-E x16 2.0, not 1.0, and some older motherboards will not be compatible with that. That's why I was saying that knowing the board is important as well, otherwise you may end up with a VGA that you cannot even use..

$11 gamepad. Great for 2k9. For the guys still playing with the keyboard, why?

Are my specs able to run this game?

AMD Athlon 2500+
1280mb RAM
ATI Radeon 9600 256mb graphics card
Windows XP SP2
DirectX 9.0
Dual Analog Gamepad

Sat Oct 11, 2008 2:41 pm

i think you need at least 512mb graphics card or better if there is...if you plan to run the game with max settings...

for the controller, I am using a ps2 controller that i use for pc... i guess that's enough...how many buttons do you really need to play this game hehehe...
