Getting rid of blurry courts and/or Players

Talk about NBA 2K9 here, as well as all previous games in the NBA 2K series.

Getting rid of blurry courts and/or Players

Postby Mikksmix on Sun Oct 26, 2008 2:19 am

Alright, most people that are playing the game on PC probably already know this, but I thought I'd post anyway for those who don't. Using Catalyst or nVidia's control panels, you can just force Anisotropic Filtering on to get rid of the blurry courts and players. Usually it's not a big frame rate drop for modern video cards, so it's a good thing to do. The downside is that now you'll see that the center logos are a bit low-res compared to other textures in the game. Hopefully someone will be able to mod that in the future. Anyway, I hope this post helps someone and if someone needs comparison shots, I hope someone else can provide them as I'm too lazy to take some. Once again, thank you 2k for releasing this game on the PC.

The courts are not of a low resolution, it is the mipmapping. You can tell the courts have a very high resolution if you look at them closely. The problem comes when the camera is farther away from the court, then the game displays the lower resolution mipmap causing poor image quality during gameplay.

I didn't say that the courts are low-resolution, just that the center logos are not sharp. You can see it when you use AF to get rid of the blurriness. The logos are jaggy-ish.

Try to set your LOD-Bias setting on -1. It helped me a lot. And no,I dont know what that is, y just change it in Catalyst

When I was playing the PS3 version I really noticed the blurry logo's right off. PC version.... I can hardly even notice it. Thanks 2K for caring about PC people. :D

Just to be clear, you're not talking about the Depth of Field feature are you? Which basically makes things in the background or far away look grainy and blurred out, and can be turned off in the advanced settings.
