nba 2k9 on ps3 on hdtv

i just got ps3 and nba 2k9...
i alos have a hdtv
it seems that the graphic is not as good as i thought or as good as some videos/screenshots i see...
do i need to buy a cable to connect the ps3 to tv or is there a plcae where i can change the setting or what? thanks
