Hello guys! This is my tutorial on how to change player numbers on ESPN NBA 2K5, my favorite 2K! It sucks how you can't change the numbers directly but thankfully there's a way! Works on both PS2 and original XBOX, This can take a while though but the end results are worth it!
I will be using Josh Smith aka J-Smoove for this tutorial but works for other players too! So I wanna change Josh Smith's number from #42 to his proper on-court number, which is #5, here's what to do!
1. Create a custom player but DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING YET, then sign the player on your desired team (You may need to release someone first if the team is full but remember to re-sign the player when done!)
2. Release your desired player, then change the custom player's number to whatever the player was wearing. (Again, using J-Smoove for this tutorial so I'll change the custom player's number to #42)
3. Resign the desired player to the team he was on.
4. If your desired player is still not wearing the number you want, release the player and change the custom player's number to whatever your desired player was wearing when the game changed it then resign your desired player to the team he was on.
5. Repeat step 4 until you get your desired number. (In my case, it's #5 for Josh Smith aka J-Smoove)
6. Release the custom player then delete it and resign any player you released from the team back on to the team they were on (If needed)
7. Enjoy! And remember to save your roster when done so the player you changed the jersey number on keeps it!
Hope you find my tutorial helpful and even though this was made for 2K5, it should work on any other PS2/original Xbox NBA 2K game! This is also for the retro 2K players like me!
