How do I assign a portrait to a player?

I know it can be done because Michael Jordan from Alby's roster patch has his own portrait. Anyone know how to do this?

Um... I'm not quite sure how I can be more specific. After Installing Alby's Roster Patch... If you play with the 90's East All-Stars Michael Jordan has his own portrait, rather than a 2k9 created portrait or a shadow portrait. If you still don't understand I'll try and post a screenshot of what I mean.

josh, there are iff files in the 2k9 folder. some are just portraits, i believe. in fact, i read somewhere here that jordan has 2 portraits in the folder.

Are the portraits stored in the same file as the cyberface iff file?

I tried using the portrait of MJ but its not working. Can anyone mention his other Portrait number?

What do you mean one is animated?? And who created these portraits? Was it 2k9?

So the pic of MJ was created by 2k9? Cuz it looks a little different than the other portraits. Correct me if I'm wrong... The portraits are in a file called portrait.cdf or portrait.iff and the png****.iff files are for the cyberfaces. So if you assign someone a png****.iff cyberface, 2k9 will automatically look up **** in the portrait file and if it is there 2k9 will assign the corresponding portrait to your player. So I take it nobody has cracked the portrait files yet?

To my knowledge no one has cracked the portrait file which is a 42.6 mb cdf file. That is what I think we would need to crack to get portraits. Hopefully the guys over at MLB will crack it soon because I think they have the same format for MLB 2k9. The guys at MVPMods may be working at it right now?

Someone has uncompressed the portrait cdf file, and they are progressively working on a possible tool when they have the time to dedicate to it.

I've been checking the site regularly for a portrait tool. Im very excited that someone already manage to uncompress those portraits. Can you give us more info about that someone and the current status of his work?

nope thus far its impossible, the reason i believe some of the portraits are different because im sure alot of them are from like 2k2 2k3 and so on and so fourth.

Pdub that is great news so do you think this would be done before 2k10 comes out? or are just researching
