W-T-HELL IS STEAM

I WAS INSTALLING THE DVD RIGHT THEN IT ASK TO INSTALL STEAM SOMETHING WAS TELLING ME i DONT NEED IT JUST INSTALL 2K9.
BUT i INSTALLED IT. THEN I GOT SOME DLL ERROR AND COULDNT INSTALL 2K9.
SO I UNISNTALLED STEAM, CLEANED MY REGISTRY AND NOW I WAIT FOR SOME HELP pLZ.

the install requires steam, it is a distribution client from the company Valve that created Half Life 2.
