Sun Oct 05, 2008 10:56 am

Picked up my copy this morning and will be playing all night, so if anyone is curious of anything just ask =).

BTW the game is amazing.

shoot, why is it already out? Any chance it will be available in Europe on Monday?

Hm, questions .. I have one.
Since I wasn't completely convinced of the defense while playing the demo, I'd like to ask if there's any slider or option to prevent that massive switching on D.

Say you're guarding the PG. SG and SF of your opponent are on the left and right wing, they both make a cut towards baseline, they end up switching positions because no pass is possible.
Now when they meet in the key my guys don't follow the guy they're supposed to guard. Almost every time my SG ends up guarding their SF and the SF the SG.

BTW Buzzy its not out I just have a few connections in a mom/pop shop... Been buying games from there for years so he basically hooks me up with games early, I got madden 09 a week ahead, and he doesn't even charge me tax.

As for your question, there are no settings or sliders for what you are asking for.

Hm, I'll get the hang of it sooner or later I guess, thanks anyways.

/edit: I just thought of another question. Do CAPs have normal skin colors finally? Or are they still red all over the face?

One thing I've been curious about that I can't seem to get anyone to answer. Is create a team still there and has it changed at all?

Also any new Street courts included this year?

Okay so I just finished playing the first game against the heat in my Knicks association. Game is flat out amazing, oh my god. The heat scorched me in the 2nd and 3rd quarter, with Mario Chalmers posting up 26 pts 10 ast off 10-13 shooting. I'm embarassed. Beasley started the year off with 26 pts and 6 reb along with 3 blk's.

Like:
Each player has realistic moves, Dwayne Wade does Wade like lay-ups, while jamal crawford did his infamous crossover that he performed on Deron Williams and Kirk Hinrich last year.

Rebounding is a lot hard, and so is defense, big difference between this and 2k8 is that HARD DEFENSE ACTUALLY PAYS OFF. Not that many miracle shots anymore.

It is really hard to drive in so that probably will stop alot of cheesing online.

overall gameplay feels a million times smoother which is just perfect.

Steals, blocks, fouls all look and feel alot more real, the ball gets tipped around alot and yes there is blocks off the backboard.

Dislikes:

Considering I was the Knicks I expect this, but my defense would fall apart A LOT. Mario Chalmers and Shawn Marion were both left open a lot for three pointers.

Guys like Mark Blount (4 blks) seem to get alot of blocks, the heat had a total of 11 blks this game, it seems like people getting blocked is really high this game

I will update this more as I play more games.

Create a team is still here Jao, and I don't know how last years was I never tried but this seems pretty decent, you can choose team playbooks =).

And I don't know about the courts you cant choose a court, it takes you straight to what looks like Rucker Park.

I've seen a lot of gameplay videos and if feels as good playing the game as it does watching it, then I'm definetely abandoning Live for now.

Can you tell me about the players from the end of the benches? I've seen one Milwaukee video that the announcer called Ramon Sessions as #7. That worried me about the level of detail (graphics and speech) of lesser known players. Are there real cyberfaces for guys like Will Bynum, CJ Watson, Goran Dragic, Roko Ukic, ... ?

What about the arena anouncer? Does he call players by their full names or last name only?

thanks for answering our questions (Y)

Bye bye Nba live forever

Sun Oct 05, 2008 3:28 pm

What about the graphics? Are they blurry like in the demo?

Sun Oct 05, 2008 3:56 pm

any stat overlays during the game (pts, reb, asist, etc) :|

and i don't mean when u throw FT...

Sun Oct 05, 2008 6:25 pm

What about the be-a-pro-mode? IS it back this year?
Did isomotion change?

Doobie, is the gameplay actually like the trailer 1 and 2 that was amazing?

I find it impossible that they could create a control system that allows you to do all those moves on demand. You'd need like a 30 button joystick. or are the moves automated with limited control (by the user). For instance, how do you do the Ray Allen hide behind the back layup on request?

Is footplanting better than last year ?
Can you change headbands' colour manually ??

Thanks in advance ;)

The shot stick allows you to choose what kind of layup will be performed, but the actual animation that ends up getting played out is contextual. Say you press away from the basket with the shot stick, your player will do a floater-type shot. If you press towards the basket, the player will do a finger roll. To the left of the basket, a left handed layup, to the right, a right handed layup. The actual animations end up different depending on the player you are using, where you are on the court and if there are any defenders close to you.

Mon Oct 06, 2008 4:15 am

Is the gameplay noticeably better than 2K8?

I got the game too.
It's a 2K NBA game, so it's amazing.

Mon Oct 06, 2008 3:11 pm

I wanna know if they are any new extra all-star teams or international teams. Also..is the blacktop mode still there with the dunk contest n' stuff.

Mon Oct 06, 2008 4:49 pm

Sorry it took me all day guys I was playing until I had to go to work but now I am home, so I will answer the questions that don't require me to go on and check things, considering I can't turn my ps3 on right now.

dreadd41: They call certain players by there numbers, its sad but I understand they can't have someone saying everyones name in the game. and the Arena announcer says full names.

joejam999: The graphics are just fine I don't know why they are like that on the demo, but everything on the court is great, the fans are great, the arena's look great. (Y)

ConfigSys: there are no stat overlay's during the game, I realized that earlier and it's bothering me. I haven't seen any at all through about 10 games unless I AM shooting free throws.

Sportsgamer: Don't know about the be a pro mode, didn't realize they had it last year? But isomotion is alot harder to control now and the moves do truly pay off, but sometimes they are unresponsive.

cyanide: The gameplay is a lot better than 2k8's I honestly didn't expect such an improvement, I just love the overall look and feel of this game.

Big green: Don't know about the teams but the blacktop mode is there, haven't gotten around to trying it yet.

JWL3: Yes the gameplay is great, I can't watch the trailer my computer is to slow, but this game is nothing short of amazing, you can control what your player does and you can string them together for a bunch of awesome plays.
