Nba 2K Dynasty Mode? Differences between Nba Live?

Postby Lord Vulcane on Wed Oct 01, 2008 3:28 am

i was a big Nba Live Fan. I even bought and played the disasters that they made in couple of years. I never played Nba 2k because i dont have a console.

The major thing i like in Live is Dynasty Modes (even though they suck at last years.) I know 2K is a great game, according to forums on the net, it is also better than live they say.

I know 2k has better gameplay but, what differences 2k have from Live's dynasty? (or is it called season?) Is it better? I searched the forum and read actually but i wanted to get opinion from the gamers itself.

Sorry for my english :)

2K's rookie generation takes a massive dump on Live's efforts. Players start off like rookies and develop the way that they would in real life. In the recent NBA Live games, the rookies have had ludicrously high initial ratings, and then have had no ceiling to develop to.

However a lot of the generated rookies in 2k8 did look pretty stupid, ie. 1970s ABA refugees. But you can get past that because of the way that they play. Also, the generated rookies have player portraits, and while their ingame counterparts rarely look like these portraits, it still makes a nice change from looking at identical silhouetted heads for 20 simulated years. Hopefully 2K will have fixed their physical appearances, because that is one of the few things holding back 2K's Association mode.

It's funny that those portraits are composites from two nba players each. I can name one that is a composite of Yao Ming and Tony Parker. The one thing I hate about generated rookies is that you can't edit their appearance.

been playing live and 2k since 2003, from my experience 2k always have DEEPER, REALISTIC, AND BETTER dynasty/season mode so I guess we do't need to worry about that.

the big concern for me is if this game can be mod

I picked up NBA 2k8 after playing '99-'07 on Live and didn't regret for a moment. Only thing that bothered me in 2k8 Association mode was the CPU trade and FA signing/resigning logic, which was pretty much as awful as in Live, everything else was pretty much in place.

Ah yep. Forgot about that, actually. Far too many trades. Far too few free agency transactions during the season.

And most of the trades didn't make any sense at all.

And the free agent signings either, I simulate season by season and my god, at one point the Pacers had 4 shooting guards rated 90 or higher, all of them with large contracts, and the rest of there team was horrid.

wow, 2k dynasty is really nasty! we can edit draft pics completely, create - a - player is AWESOME! FA signing is terrific and there are a lot of setting when we start dynasty - that would be crazy as hell!
