[HELP!] Adding an Alpha Layer to a Cyberface

Postby Tomoya_Okazaki on Sat Aug 18, 2012 4:25 pm

I made cyberfaces of my classmates so that i can create our own team with the same name of our school's basketball team.

The cyberface was ok, i tried to create players using the cyberfaces i made as their faces.
Well, the players' head are too shiny, so i searched any solutions regarding to this and that is "adding an alpha layer to a cyberface".

I followed each and every step that the tutorial from the wiki section provided. Also, I noted the difference between the alpha layer of a bald head and a normal head (bald heads are not normal, LOL). I checked the result through FshX. The cyberface got cropped, and when i set it as the cyberface of a palyer, the player's face looks like a robot (more like a robot form the movie "i-robot").

Any solutions?

tnx.

Make sure the two faces - the one you're sourcing the alpha from and the one you need to add an alpha to - are the same size.

Failing that, TanyaMarkovA recently posted the steps to creating alpha layers for shoe updates. I would assume the process is similar for other textures, such as faces and jerseys.

TanyaMarkovA wrote:1.Run Photoshop, open up your created shoe.
2.Press ctrl+A (to select all image) and ctrl+C (to copy the image)
3.In the Photoshop option menu (located in the uppermost) click layer then new layer.
4.Once you've done that paste the copied images, the one you copied from step number 2 to the new layer.
5.In the Photoshop option menu Click "Adjustments" then "Images" and "Desaturate" options. Then you will see your pasted image (In the new layer) turned into a black and white image.
6.From that black and white image (which you will be using as the alpha layer)Press ctrl+A and Ctrl+c again.
7. Then in the "CHANNNELS" tab,you will see 4 channels (RGB,red, green and blue channels) you will see at the bottom a small rectangle with circle inside, click that then a new channel will appear.(That will be a pure white channel with a caption Alpha 1.
8.Click inside that white background then paste the black and white image from step 6 (There you go the alpha layer you will see a pinkish like color)
9.Back from the New Layer tab (named as layer 1) column, right click then click delete layer.
10.Save your work as DDS file.
