I started out with Portland as my starting point, I went 48-33 that year and lost in the second round of the playoffs.
Next year, I went 47-34.. a dropoff from last year, but still pulled upsets and took the then reigning champions Orlando to Game 7, winning in OT by 4. It was pretty intense. Curse Rashard and his last second 3's.
The following year, I pulled off a couple of huge trades, signed a couple, traded players for players.. then traded those players.. basically acquired a bunch of superstars, and kept recycling them until I had a nice roster. It took a while and was pretty time consuming checking the Rumors Central everyday :/.
I managed to get:
PG: Chris Paul
SG: Brandon Roy
SF: Danny Granger
PF: Amar'e Stoudemire
C: Greg Oden
Bench:
JR Smith
LaMarcus Aldridge
Rudy Fernandez
Marvin Williams
Gerald Green
Shaun Livingston
Joel Pryzbilla
Donte Greene
Patrick O'Bryant
Terrance Kinsey
GOAT Roster. This team did it all. I averaged about 42 ppg off the bench, and my team Avg PPG was around 121.
Can someone say 72-10? ... Well not mebut still pulled an impressive 69 - 13.
I pretty much kept this roster until the end of my five-years. Had a couple of player switches here and there, but this is a young team.. and it's scary.
After 69-13, I once again attempted to chase the ghosts of that gosh darn Bulls team and ended one loss short, with Dirk beating me with a 3 at the buzzer. ended up 71-11. Heartbreaking :/ but still.. went on to take the 'Ship and it was pretty damn easy.. 4-0 swept the first 3 rounds and 4-2 in the Finals.
My team began to decay and I ended up with a 62-20 the next season, still impressive.. and the GM was literally kissing my ass.. I got lazy and stopped training my players, stopped scouting, and everything.. and I kept getting messages of "You're doing a great job, I'm never doubting you again.. I knew I made the right choice hiring you." Trying to make me stay. Too bad I didn't
I was offered a job as a messiah for the horrible 9-73 Raptors.. I decided to put myself up to the challenge... and To be continued.. I'm off to bed
