Talk about NBA Live 08 here.
Tue Aug 05, 2008 11:03 pm
Just to update everyone, I am still working on the roster updates for NBA Live 08, 07 and 06. I still cannot set dates for their release but I am working hard to get them out as soon as possible. The post Draft update is one of the most tedious and time consuming but I'm certainly making progress and will do my best not to keep everyone waiting too much longer.
In the meantime, I've finished creating this year's sixty draftees and have completed a first pass through their ratings. I've decided to post a spreadsheet with their ratings so that I can get your feedback and any corrections for players who should be left handed (I've already noticed a couple) before the rosters actually come out. If any other roster patchers would like to use any of these ratings as a base, please feel free to do so.
Rookie Ratings
Please note that I'm looking for honest, constructive and intelligent feedback here on all ratings, not just the overalls. I can also do without the childish "lol omg these ratings suck" nonsense; if you see something that doesn't look right, by all means point it out and suggest new ratings but please do it without the attitude. Thanks.

Guess you skipped the last paragraph.
Anyway, I based them on the statistics and scouting reports that were available. Obviously there is some guesswork involved since these players haven't played a single minute in the NBA yet.
Now, if you have some constructive criticism, let's have it. Otherwise, hit the bricks.

sorry bro if you feel that i criticize your work, actually I'm just asking because it quite perplex me.. sorry bro if i hurt you for that..

I don't mind criticism, but if you feel the ratings are off at all you'll need to give me something to work with in the way of specific suggestions. Post 'em if you've got 'em.

Nice, job,no complaining here....no rookie cant be 85-88 and never play a minute in the NBA......and people shouldnt be bitching and moaning just because this certain player is lower than another.GJ Andrew

I like these ratings much better then Albys.
He has players who should be in the 60s in the 70s.

'll say a few words.
It's hard to judge rosters as I don't really know the numbers for other similar players.
What is the FG range? what number represents solid dun ker, 3P specialist?
Rose - he is not a good shooter, his Fg should be much lower then the one for Gordon. He is a solid rebounder for PF (15/38 is maybe a bit low? Again depends on other players)
Westbrook - he's probably faster then Rose, but let's say that's ok. His dunking ratng should be insane, at the top level for PGs, hint youtube. DraftExpress said he's an elite defensive player from day 1, a 65 rating does not reflect that, I'd say high 70 or 80 from the start. Blocking seems low, ame as with Rose -what are the rartings for solid pg/sg blockers? His 3P should be low 60s, round that of Rose. Passing seems a bit high, even though he's underrated in general public. Range at 25
OJ - 80 dunking is way to much, he's worse then Russel, better then Derrick. Solid, but not elite. His passing should be at P>G level, but not at the high end, mid 60s maybe.
Gordon - he's the best shooter of this class, so should have best ratings, a bit over Mayo. Is he really that quick? He's the strongest small player in the draft, should have higher strength.
DJ - he's supposed to be a solid defender,, just an undersized one.
Bayless - Passing seems a high, he should be at Mayo or a bit lower.
Rest will follow Wink

Thank you, Andrew! Your job is really nice
But, maybe, Joe Alexander JUMP raiting must be more than 65?

Most players will only be called by their numbers, some will be able to take advantage of audio already in the game.

Nice work on the rosters. I am from australia and i think that Nathan Jawai's dunk and block ratings should be incresed a little to make him more realistic. Here is a video from the nbl (australia) allstar game of him.

hope this helps

He didn't block a lot of shots for a player his size though. Nevertheless, I'll take another look. Thanks for your feedback, and welcome to the Forum.

Based on the summer league performace from Brook Lopez his FG percentage should be around 67 or 68.
let me see wat yall think
put some links up for reference.
look at the first link Russell westbrook 2 FG/ 13 FGA while Brook 9 FG/ 17 FGA no way Brook can be 56.

How was he scoring the points though? Around the basket or mid range jumpshots?
Fri Aug 08, 2008 12:39 pm
most points were made in and around the paint, some hook shots and off the backboard.

I agree, Andrew, Sir - you really underestimate very experienced European players like Fernandez or M.Gasol. I don't know if you, Sir, have seen Bejing Olympic Games for example. No offence, greetings anyway.

i understand what you're saying but come on, andrew's doing a great job and even if his ratings arent 100% what u think they should be does it really matter ??? its not like there's a patch that will make everyone happy and since even i know how to boost someone's ratings in edit player feat. im certein everyone can pull it off.... all im saying is let the man concentrate on the issues we cant do ourselves and release this long awaited patch...
P.S. no i didnt mean to offend anyone, and i mainly agree with what you're saying all i tried to say is keep your eyes on the big picture, and if someone took it the wrong way im really sorry.

Yes, and I've also seen stars in Europe come to the NBA and have very ordinary careers; we don't know how these players are going to perform yet, for all the scouting reports and whatnot there is still a bit of guesswork until they start playing in the NBA as to how to rate them in NBA Live. Anyway, the data in that spreadsheet is outdated now as I've been updating ratings since then but I have been given some good feedback to try and improve the ratings before the first 08/09 release.

Andrew, ratings are great, as always! thanks for beasley and chalmers, and tho i'm not a big fan of bulls, but i think Rose deserves a much higher dunking rating, he can dunk REALLY COOL!
Fri Sep 26, 2008 4:30 pm
I went ahead and adjusted his dunking rating some time back. A few people would probably still like it to be higher than it currently is but a lot of smaller players don't dunk as often in the pros as they do in college so I'd prefer to wait and see before increasing it any more than I have done since posting this set of ratings back in August.
