Hello everyone.
I am very new to the live series and more specifically to the dynasty mode. I have a quick question for anyone who can help me.
In regards to positions (C, PF, SF, PG, SG) what major attributes do you look at for each role? I assume its the same for all GM functions; signing free agents, trading, drafting, etc
I am also wanted to know what would be a great team to start with, a team good enough for the playoffs but still room to grow.

what do you mean with major attributes

Which attributes (ratings) do you look for in those positions? Example, in a centre you want to look at these attributes......
Does that make more sense?

Sometimes i look for these attributes.
Center-Someone who's an inside scorer, shot blocker rebounder
power forward-someone who can block shots and rebound
small forward-a dunker or shooter who's fast and sometimes a good inside scorer
shooting gaurd-fast and quick, 3 point shooter
point gaurd-excellent passer 3 point shooter fast and quick and can steal
i hope this helps. As far as teams that can make the playoffs but can grow, mmm, maybe toronto, orlando i don't know of anyone elese.

I think the attributes are somewhat based on the team style of play.
For example-if your drafting, or trading, making any roster change for a team like.. the Suns, lets say, you want a quick team, with decent shooting ability, thats good on a catch and shoot style, but still works the ball around. It just depends on the team.
As far as teams go, if you want a young team that can make playoffs, i would say, look no further than the Hornets, or the Blazers (if you can play well, they weren't far from the playoffs this year).
hope that helps.

droptopflopmop is right, it does depend on your style of play. You might find a big man with range suits you more than someone whose range is limited but post play is very strong, or vice versa. However, more often than not when it comes to centres and power forwards you'll want players who are tall and reasonably strong, with inside scoring, rebounding and shotblocking being their major strengths.
When it comes to guards, they'll be handling the ball most of the time so you want to look at players with good passing and dribbling ratings. If you're not going to rely on them for a lot of scoring then you can sometimes get away with lower shooting ratings though you shouldn't leave yourself completely void of scoring in the backcourt. Undersized guards aren't too much of a problem as you can usually find ways of compensating but all other things being equal, take the 6'6" shooting guard over the 6'2" shooting guard. Your best prospects are generally going to be strong in shooting, ballhandling, speed, quickness and steals.
There's a lot of versatility at small forward. Depending on the player in question, they can usually player bigger or smaller than their position with their major stengths often being a mix of skills displayed by big men (such as rebounding, post play and even shotblocking) as well as guards (such as shooting and ballhandling).
