Need help with Rookie/Soph dbf editing

Sat Mar 29, 2008 10:50 pm

I really need your help here. I was doiung some roster work for granthill33. He wanted me to update the allstarweekend lineups. I did the east and west but I have problems with rooks and sophs.

So I wanted to delete azubike from the sophs and add rondo. I did this already with east west. Like sheed instead of shaq.
I wanted to see the changes. But when the game loads I get a codebase error.
I deleted the changes but the error still happens.
Any suggstions? Thanks

EDIT: How do I do individual Jerseys like in RookSoph game? Not through fsh. I mean through dbf

What exactly did you do? Did you change just the line in which Azubuike was to Rondo? Or maybe create new lines with DB Commander?

Did you edit appearance.dbf also?

Codebase error and what? Game crashes?

No Rondo wasnt even in the team. I edit azubikes line to rondos (so where azubike was rondo now is)
I never touched the appearance.dbf (maan I hate this word)
When loading, I hear the error sound of my Windows. And the loading screen freezes but the sound of the lioading screen goes on (but never reached the commentators.)

EDIT:
ERROR#: -70
ERROR#: 91102
READING FILE
dFile4...()
APPEREANCE

Thats the error message

Did anybody ever added/removed/replaced Rookie/Sophmore players?
Andrew maybe?

So you have to touch it. Find the ID which is the same as ID in players.dbf and you have to put there values from Rondo's ID (so locate him in players.dbf, note the ID and find this ID in appearance.dbf).

I don't know if that will solve the problem, cause it's a little strange.

Also, did you change PLAYERPKG in players.dbf?

Check also if you haven't created a new player/s accidentally. Open players.dbf, move down to the end and check if there isn't an empty line below the last player, which don't disappear if you move up.

But if you did so, I think it won't be results like this... so hard to say what really happened.

Thanks for the answer
So I did copied every value in the player.dbf Rondo has into the SSophmore line of Azubike, except the teamnum line (45 for soph)

Sorry but I dont understand your first senctence. Can you please explain this a bit more?

EDIT: I just ried to add Scola to the Rookies in the same way but I still get the same error

The PLAYERID in the players.dbf file is the same as the APPEARID in the appearance.dbf file.

Make sure everything works before you play a game. Check to see if it crashes during-

Reorder roster
Edit Player
maybe 3pt contest

When you make change, chagne only one player, then test it in the game to see if you did it right.

The mistake you've made there is copying PLAYERID as well. By doing that, you've got two database entries with identical ID numbers. Leave the original ID number for the second instance of Rondo (ie the one you're creating by editing Azubuike), search for this ID in appearance.dbf and edit the values accordingly. Leave the IDs alone, however.

So I should not change the PLAYERID of Azubike but copy the Appereance line of Rondo to Azubikes except the AppereanceID number?
Sorry that I understand so slow but in the lastfew days I always have headaches

Sun Mar 30, 2008 11:06 pm

Didn't think of that. It must be cause of your problems.

Yes. Don't touch ID, never.

What I did now: I copied every single chart from Rondo to Azubike, but I didnt change the team. I did the same in appeareance.dbf and also changed the appearid to rondos. It still crashes, only then. codebase error

So... did you change the IDs once again?

Maybe even if you cancel these changes and restore the old IDs etc, it's possible that it won't solve this problem. I'd suggest start this over, following the dbf editing guides on nba-live.com.

And remember, don't touch the ID!

Ok Ill try again now thx for the answer

EDIT: Andrew said i should change the IDs?

EDIT: again
IT WORKS THANK YOU GUYS! I had to chage the appereance Id of Azubuike to ROndos.

It's best not to edit PLAYERID but as long as there are no duplicate ID numbers and each ID in players.dbf corresponds with an entry in appearance.dbf everything should be fine.

Ok thanks.
