Need tattoo help

I'm trying to create a custom tattos for my player but it's not showoing up in the game.

Here is what I did:

1) extracted arm11base(I'm actually not sure which one I'm suppose to extract to make it fit for my player)

2) Edited with photoshop

3) added to sgsm folder for (John Johnson) JOJOHNS_arm_tat


P.S. My player was created from scratch, then I later made him into an "original" player so his pic shows up.

Did I miss something when I was editing apearance.dbf?

Did I extract the wrong Arm base?

Would it be easier just to add the custom tattoos into the game and then set them up manually with player edit screen? If so how do I set it up so the game doesn't crush?

1) It depends on what skin color you set for your player. The first number go from 0 (lightest skin) to 4 (darkest skin), and the second one is related to muscle definition with number 2 being the most muscled arm. So arm11base means: white skin (color 1) with medium muscle def.

2) When you say 'extracted', you mean using the FshX tool, right? After saving as .bmp you can edit on photoshop (creating different layers for the tats, so if you make a mistake you don't lose the skin background) and save as .bmp after you're done.

3) Open FshX and your jojohns_arm_tat again and click on texture > import and select your created .bmp and click 'open' then save it. Now put it in the sgsm folder. Make sure you did the right texture resolution. If the tats are on the wrong side of the arm, then you'll need to decrease from 512x512 to 256x256 (Just press Half resolution).

If this tattoo is to appear on a player already in the game, there's no need to edit appearence.dbf. If he's created, then you have to edit some fields in players.dbf and appearence.dbf so that the game reads him as an original player.

You don't need to have the arm texture display. You can make the arm transparent and have just the tattoo show up because it will "overlay" on to the arm. "jojohns" is the PLAYERPKG of Joe Johnson. You need to change that.

Thanks guys. A couple of follow ups:

Where can I look up the muscle definition og my player? Is it in appearance?

WHen I said I made him into original I meant that he was a created player and then I eddited him with DB Commander.

If I'm going to create transparent tattoos does it make any difference which armbase do I use?

Pdub if you can post an example of the transp[arent tattoo design I would really apreciate it.

P.S. I changed the PKG for a different name it still doesn't work :(

No, because you will just be using it as a guide on where to place the tattoo, and you will be hiding it's layer when you save the tattoo file. Sorry I haven't seen this thread for a week. I don't know why I didn't notice it. You could have pm'd me instead of quadruple posting. :wink:

The roster that John Johnson is on and all of John Johnson's graphic files such as the tattoo, the cyberface, and the portrait. I will take a look at what you are doing wrong and show you how to correct it.
