need help with player lock

I got the player lock patch in the game but every time I'm playing in game it unlocks when i use the L1 buttons and stuff and i was wondering how i can fix this? So I can always stay locked onto a player.

That cannot be fixed. It's a problem with player lock that goes back to NBA Live '07.
