MOD TOOLS FOR PC!!!

Postby Cy BerFuk on Tue Sep 18, 2007 12:24 am

Its pretty clear by now that 08 will be an update of 07 with a few minor tweaks, scoreboard etc. It's also understood that EA doesn't have the time(money) to spend on the PC version.

Next-gen graphics or not, time has run out for Live 08, so with such a large community that we have here, and its amazing patcher's, why don't we band together like we did on 07 and demand they provide us with Mod tools that will assist in making Live they way we want it.

Instead of us taking months to work out how EA has done the files each year, they should be providing us with the knowledge and tools to do so in the first place.

Without moding and the patches from this site, Live is just not worth playing.

Show your your support and vote on the poll above, and if we gather enough support maybe we could draft a petition to EA. They might not give a shit but its better to be heard than just whining about it in a forum.

I think it's a good idea, but it could be a bit premature to do this before the game is even released. Admittedly the odds of EA having made the game entirely patchable since 07 are almost non existent, but this is jumping the gun a little.

Either way, I think you'll find plenty of interested people. Back in the day even I could patch the game, and trust me it had to be fucking easy for that to happen.

And petitions/letters etc can work... the community letter last year was a great success.

funny in the next/current gen demo, they have an option for the infamous "creation zone" rumored for Live 2005. I wonder if that will carry over to the PC version.

This is something that should of been done a long time ago. Most other games come out with a SDK why not Live now.

Q, look at any season, dynasty, or playoff save and you will see these files
cusarena.dbf
custunis.dbf

they have been around since 2004 I think when madden first got their owner mode.
Opinions are my own.

Wow, three years of developing it and it has never fully surfaced. I would love an owner mode with create-a-stadium/jersey features. I think that itself could expand Dynasty mode because they could come up with expansion teams later on in the dynasty's years. I'm not sure how the licensing would work with that. I don't know how the licensing would work for cities that don't have NBA teams, maybe they could just use the current cities that have teams, or even the states that those cities are in.

Anyways, if I had moderator powers I would ban anybody who voted no on this poll.

An SDK is a great idea. They have released SDK's for other games lke Battleifeld 2, Battle For Middle Earth 2/Command & Conquer 3(one SDK for both of the games), Tiberium Wars, even Nightfire(007 James Bond game) I believe. The NBA Live PC modding community is huge and global. The patching community only keeps people interested in the game, not to mention there are people who actually only buy the game after they see what kind of patches and mods they can use with it, because they know it;s unique and you can't get it anywhere else.

Bottom line, let's do it. I think all the Community Leaders and long time Live enthusiasts should all be contacted, whether they play the PC version or not, and sign a letter similar to the one made for the 07 patch. Send it right to the developers.

Think about it. Patcher's could be releasing player models. We could blow the next-gen version out of the water. Assuming they came out with a tool to edit the objects in the game (even add new ones, like to stadiums).

I'm surprised that "Yes" isn't the unanimous choice but I guess some people aren't really into patching.

It certainly can't hurt to try. I'm skeptical about the power of online petitions but we've nothing to lose. As Jae said it would probably be better to wait until we've got our hands on the PC version so we know exactly what to ask for.

That's why I suggested a letter like you guys did with the 07 patch petition. It's direct and more formal than an online petition posted on a petition site.

I reckon we should give it a go along with the Next Gen for PC petition. It certainly helps if the petition actually goes to someone that can do something about it which is where a lot of online petitions fail.

Maybe we should use this thread to discuss the important areas of the game would like to modify eg. uniforms, player models, etc. before the game comes out

I think it would be beneficial to be specific and direct on what we would like to mod.

Keep up to good support guys

I voted YES, of course. Now the poll is 34 Y and 3 N. Not enough yet. :!:

In my opinion:
continue in the petition for SDK

then,

make a petition to bring Next-gen on pc.
Or NBA 2k8.

it would be great if there are tools that can be used to change and edit all the files in the mod ..it would definitely make the game much better than the past nba live's

ä

What the heck are you talking about?

It'll never happen, releasing SDKs is a stupid move for any company. At best some release map editors.

Ya why do you think that. Mods and be able to mod can make more people get the game.

We can give that a shot as well. I'm not sure about getting 2K8 to the PC though, the last petition didn't go so well. I suppose if anyone in the community has some connections at Take Two a better attempt could be made at doing that.

I propose a public castration on those 4 who voted no. Honestly, who WOULDNT like the option to do that?

I've been dying for an SDK for this game, Having to jump through all those hoops is the only reason that I havent started making mods myself. I'm too lazy.
