ps3 or xbox 360

Postby mp3 on Mon Sep 10, 2007 6:04 am

I had planned to buy a ps3 the day live 08 comes out but ive been reading afew comments made about the framerate on the ps3.

Just wondering if i could get some feed back from people who have played the demo on both consoles.

Really dont want to waste so much money on a ps3 if the game doesnt run as well as on the 360 for half the cost.

Supposedly both versions will run at 60 fps but I haven't played the PS3 version so I can't offer any hands-on insight.

Yes they do both run at 60 fps.

So far however EA has been making their next gen titles for the 360 and then porting it to the PS3. 'skate' for example reportedly has aliasing and framerate issues on the ps3, while the 360 version runs much smoother.

In the nba live demos it looks like EA turned the anti-aliasing off in the PS3 version in order to get it to run at 60 fps (and from my experience playing PC games, anti-aliasing is a very framerate-taxing feature).

On the ps3 version sometimes the game will choke up and run at a very slow framerate, but that might be fixed by the final version.

If you play on an HDTV then the lack of anti-aliasing won't matter much. It doesn't really affect the gameplay, but the 360 version in general just looks alot smoother with all it's smooth edges.

But would the frame rate drop in a demo? I mean its not actually reading a disc.

Personally i would go with xbox 360 version. as people above said, PS3 is a port, and sometimes has frame rate issues. Plus XBL is going to give you better online play if you care about that.
