NBA Live 08 Community Event

Postby Andrew on Tue Jun 19, 2007 8:14 pm

EA Sports will be holding another NBA Live Community Event this year from June 26th until June 28th in New York which will also incorporate the NBA Draft. I'll be flying out next Monday (the 25th) and will once again have the opportunity to ask the producers questions and preview the game and report back with my hands-on impressions of NBA Live 08. Hopefully I'll be able to post some reports while I'm over there, though I'll be writing up a detailed recap once I get back on July 1st as well as answering as many questions as possible.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to take video yet but I'll certainly ask and if I can, I'll see what I can bring back. :)

Andrew, would you mind to let us know what kinds of question in your mind that will be asked on that day?

Appreciated.

I would also like to see kind of what questions you have in mind. I think you have the finger on the pulse of this community and what we care about but perhaps we can offer things you never thought of asking. Unlikely but still.....

I don't have a full list written up yet as I need something to do on a 20 hour flight. ;) Basically I'll be trying to find out as much as I can about the AI particularly player shot selections and decision making as well as the depth of Dynasty Mode and hopefully get some answers to as many PC related questions as well. They probably won't be able to give me an answer on when (or if) it will be ported from Next Gen but it won't hurt for me to ask.

Any suggestions for questions for me to ask or things you'd like me to try and find out, by all means let me know. I'll be trying my best to see if issues like last year are in the game; hopefully, they won't be.

Try to find out about the animations. . .ask if they are trying to polish them all, cause from the vids they seem to have same flaws still!!!

I'll definitely ask about animation blending. Playing the game should give me a few ideas of how it works out as well. :)

It's in New York because the EA community day is being combined with the NBA Draft, and that is where the NBA Draft is happening.

That is a must ask question. But for NG can you ask if anything from March Madness 07 made it into the game? The minigame before the real game, halftime highlight of the half and the composure stuff was really good.
Opinions are my own.

Andrew, How about asking them if their QA and testing process this year is any better than last years, when the people who actually bought the game found all the bugs, then had to wait for an impartial fix.
Allow myself to introduce....myself?

Last year's event missed glaring problems such as substitutions. Will the invitees be a little more thorough this year?

I agree with fj,

Please ask if any improvement have been made to the testing, QA and fixing of bugs. Last year the missed some ABSOLUTE whoppers and we had to wait weeks to get a fix......errrr kinda! This is a huge concern for me, I'm worried we will get major bugs like NO SUBS again if QA dept/process, hasn't been reworked.

I'll definitely be asking as many questions as possible about the PC version and whether or not it will be Next Gen (and if not, whether it will be at some point), though I might not get many answers to the latter. At any rate, I'll try to find out as much as possible.

fjcommish: I can see where you're coming from but I don't think it's fair to pin the blame on me or anyone else who attended the event last year for how the game turned out. We had about 40 minutes of hands-on time duing which we tried to cover as many aspects as possible which didn't leave as much time as we would have liked to really play the game. However, I'm told we'll have a lot more time this year so we'll have a better opportunity to spot these issues and raise them with the producers. I certainly intend on doing that should I come across such problems.

#12: They don't have a New York studio, as Pdub said the event is in New York as it will incorporate the NBA Draft. I'll be taking as many pictures as possible of whatever I'm allowed to photograph.

Hopefully you will get a chance to play both versions at the event. I would also like to know if the changes they made to the next gen version (Go-To Moves, Quick-Strike Ball Handling, Own the Paint, Hot Zones) will also be in the current gen version.
