Talk about NBA Live 08 here.

Live 07, PC graphics compared to Next-gen graphics. There is no comparison.
Will EA update the graphics to next-gen graphics in live 08? I'm too cheap to buy an xbox, so this is my only hope to get the graphics of next-gen.
Please, EA?

You would rather have updated graphics than good gameplay?
Mon Apr 23, 2007 3:18 am
that too, of course. but thats a given
Mon Apr 23, 2007 3:30 am
too cheap to buy an old xbox??..im sure the prices will start to drop more than they already have since the rise of 360
Mon Apr 23, 2007 4:11 am
yeah
then there's problem 2: my mom, lol

Good chance it'll be only a slight step ahead of Live 07 for the PC. To have Live 08 with next-gen graphics would require users to have the latest hardware for the PC just to probably even run it steadily, it'd definitely alienate most of the PC users who haven't bothered updating their PC's. Besides, with the patchers that this community has, we don't need next gen graphics.

Would it kill EA to have three real graphics options??? Low: 1ghz to 2 ghz. Medium: 2ghz to 3 ghz. High: 3ghz +.
(Intel speeds of course)

EA people are too lazy... they could update the models, the crowd, the animations (tired of those slow-mo dunks and lay-ups)...... but every year they focus on "making the basketball game more realistic", last year it was the defence now it's everything..
I'm sick of seeing the same product tweaked and sent to us as a "new" game with 90% the same graphics and gamplay. Like
Num33Baller said, they can expand the graphics options so it fits everybody, but they won't becasue of they are too lazy.
They are even using the same files as the recent game it's funnny, this year the database of the young reebok team was already in the game.. EA: get to work or get lost!
P.S. I want to thank all the great patchers in the forum for making every year's game more fun to see and play

Unfortunately this is so true.
They need to get a team comparable to the madden team to work on Live.

Yeah, EA ain't concerned that much on the PC platform... They focus a lot on the consoles.. We'll scaling graphics design would be a lot harder in the sense that a single NBA Live series is spanned just its short-lived one year before another title will come.. That;s made them lazy and inconsiderate... They should have made it a bit packed with eye candies since it is sport, and not the same with so much freaky and stylish sci-fi shooters out there...
In short they should have made the game a lot nicer.... Nice enough to call it an NBA Live Series...

I wouldn't say that makes them "lazy and inconsiderate". The unfortunate fact of the matter is that the console versions outsell the PC version by a significant margin, so that's not where the focus is going to be. I'm as disappointed by that as everyone else because I'm traditionally a PC player as well but there is a business element of game development that we do often overlook and it wouldn't be a smart business decision to invest heavily in a corner of the market that yields the least amount of profit. Unfortunately for us we are that smaller, less profitable corner of the market.
Hopefully as the Current Gen consoles are phased out the PC version will remain as a port of the Xbox 360/PS3 version of the game. With the focus being on the console market it seems more and more unlikely we'll get a game that's developed specifically for the PC but we would at least still have a PC version of the game that's ported from the Next Gen consoles.
I'm not sure what you're getting at with the point about it not being a series due to the quality of the games though. NBA Live is a game that has been followed by annual sequels, making it a series of games. The quality of each game is irrelevant to the collective noun used to describe them.

live PC could be next gen...i got top spin 2 and its a port from the 360 and 360s have directx on it .....

Andrew, you're in contact with the EA Sports developers of the series. Ask them just how hard it is to make the menu interfaces PC friendly. Seriously, ever since NBA Live 2000, fans of the PC never got a user-friendly menu. By that I mean having the sliders actually slide-able when used by the mouse rather than having to click the left/right arrow and waiting there for eons to get the amount you want. Also, EA Sports really need to let the keyboard users in on the fun. Fans who would rather use the keyboard over the gamepad should have as much options as the gamepad users, barring the fact that the keyboards are missing the analogs.

BZ, you gotta remember that Next Gen is the main thing now...PC Live players may be the most dedicated to this game but we are a very small bunch. I personally believe that we are lucky even getting a port of the PS2 version.
Personally (and a little off-topic) I'd like to see a Nascar SimRacing type release for the PC only. Make the game amazingly realistic and patch friendly, release it for the PC and tell us to shut up.

Indeed we are and I understand that. But I've been playing Live since 98, and really miss the user-friendly PC interface. EA already threw the PC gamers a bone by keeping the series mod friendly, but surely they can throw another for the PC users by making it user-friendly. Just my thoughts on what would make the game more enjoyable.

This was my idea:

I would like to see a differnt UI for PC... one that utilizes mouseover Menus...
You might have a bunch of tabs on the top of the screen... like Administration (Then you put youre mouse over it, and then a list comes down, saying Assistant Coach, Assistants, Scouts, etc etc), and then say you mouseover the Assistant Coach, then a menu comes up to the right (or left depending on which side of the screen it is on) with... say, Rumors, Player Happiness, etc etc.
Basically to get to the trade screen, or the lineup screen, or to scout the next draft class, you just need to move the mouse a few times and then click once...
This DHTML page captures the concept pretty well...
http://simplythebest.net/scripts/DHTML_ ... t_105.htmlMouseover "SimplyTheBest" and then DHTML scripts to see what I am talking about.
They could put in a nice fading option for higher end CPUs with a DX10 video card...
And none of this would take very long... you could have a programmer do this in 2 working days. Its nothing special.

It's none of your idea.
That "idea" has been suggested over and over after Live2001 by a number of different persons.

I think most of us would agree that Next Gen port for the PC is probably feasible but that doesn't necessarily mean it's likely. Just because another developer has done it with another game doesn't mean EA Sports will be doing it with NBA Live, at least while they're still developing for the Current Gen consoles. I'd be surprised if the PC version was a Next Gen port this year.

I've asked about it before, it's one of those things that comes down to the fact they're ported from the console versions and the PC version is a small corner of the market, thus developing the PC version further isn't a priority. It's something I'll keep bringing up whenever I get the opportunity though as it never hurts to ask.

i guess it is almost time for me to buy a next gen console. i was hopeing that the ps3 would be doing better and be cheaper by the time i got 1

Screw graphics, how about a game that's playable and not a step back from the previous versions...
