Yeah it does but I've recieved a few complaints in regards to dynasty play for those who enjoy playing multiple season's.
So although the ratings I first installed improves the overall game play aspect it improves teams like Atlanta and Charlotte right away.
Keep in mind my attentions weren't to make the entire league stronger but to make the players smarter on both sides of the court and improve the rebounding to take away the issues with the ball hitting the floor way too often.
While the file does solve most of those issues the side effect to that is the teams overall ratings will go up substantially. I blame EA for this because their default ratings hurt the game play more than it helps it. They have a system setup that requires you train players in order for their passing, rebounding and defense to improve. While the thought process by EA is good they don't realize if they don't include enough sliders like team specific sliders the game right out box won't be as good because of the lower ratings in terms of rebounding, defense and passing.
The reason why you'll see guy's constantly moving on the field is because they all had their Off The Awareness ratings increased. What that does is improve a players IQ when the ball is away from him. You'll see more Big's look to set picks and roll to the basket and you'll see more perimeter players look to come off the screens better or sneak back door on your defense.
Defensively they rotate better and collapse the paint more. They adjust quicker to tendencies used by the human player.
That was all the good things about the file......but unfortunatley I'll have to go in and modify it by dropping some ratings back down to seperate the teams overall ratings. This will bring back some of the problems that existed before the file but the teams will be re-rated individually or based on key players.
My goal will now be to keep teams like San Antonio and Houston much better defensively than the Suns or Warriors. What I'll do is seperate defenders like Shawn Marion and Raja Bell from the rest of their teammates.
I'll go back in and utilize the ratings to force teams to play their own style more often. That means while the Suns and Warriors will dropped defensively they'll be increased in ratings like fast break anticipation and 3-pt shooting likely hood. It doesn't effect their actual shooting ratings it just increases the likely hood that those teams will shoot more 3's and look to run more often than other teams.
I'll take teams like San Antonio, Houston, Detroit and Miami and turn them into pure half court teams that play with a slower tempo.
I apologize to those who who didn't want all teams improved for purpose of dynasty play and I'll go back and modify teams and individuals based on playing styles.
I'm not adjusting any shooting ratings, shot blocking ratings or rebouding ratings that were assigned. It'll take a few more days to straighten every thing out.
As for the question about free-agents what I'll do is sign players to a team adjust their ratings and then release them back to the free-agent pool to solve that problem. I can't do anything about the incoming rookies unfortunately.
Playmakers, I haven’t even looked at Dynasty, just been playing pickup games with my son and some friends… I have to say that I have both 2k/live and I can’t seem too stop playing live after the update nor can my friends…
On Friday nights we get together and have what we call Friday night tournaments, and last Friday I wasn’t able to finish your update since you was still working on it and they was really loving it! Now you’re talking about making it better, which means more work and time on your part so we can be happy! You da man!!!
If you don’t mind I have some things that maybe can be added:
1. Players don’t grab the ball when it rolls out of bounds (EA needs to address)
2. Less reaching fouls
3. Less charging fouls
4. When you call time there are no inbound play book (There all the same Plays)
5. A little tighter defense. (Maybe when the player bumps into you they bounce back a little… Instead of the defender bouncing back and the CPU pulls a jumper)
USER SLIDERS
User Steal Ability: 10
User Shot Block Ability: 5
ATHLETICISM RATINGS
Max Speed- (+20) (faster acceleration when lanes are open)
Acceleration- (+20) (Faster first step)
DEFENSE CATEGORY RATINGS
Shot Alter- (+25)
Help Side Effectiveness- (+30)
Pass Lane Defense- (+25)

Yea, I agree with you Techdaddy. Playmakers da-man. I finally got all of the teams changed and the game is so much better. I getting by butt beat by the computer (playing with Memphis). I have a question Playmakers. On the 1st game I played (vs Houston) my guys played great/smart (still lost). On the 2nd game against the Bucks, Swift got dumb on me (he wasn’t fighting to get rebounds like the 1st game). It may just be my playing style or me. Any word on the edit player issue?

Here's an example of the shooting tendencies that will be assigned to each player on the roster file this year. All credit goes to jdubs as he put these types of #'s together last year in Live 07 and ironically most of his #'s is very close to what EA assigned to the players this year for shooting likelyhood. I was actually shocked to see just how close they were compared to the #'s jdubs provided last year.
These #'s is what creates more variety in shot selection by the CPU providing a balance game between mid range jumpers attempted and 3-pt attempts.

Is it okay for you to share your rosters w/ EA Locker?
Thu Oct 11, 2007 7:50 am
what is EA Locker? i just got xbox live so color me clueless.
hey playmakers, are you going to post all the changes on the front page for every player/team? or are you just going to update the roster file... because i dont have any way to move a file from pc to xbox360 yet, and the latter would be appreciated.
are you going to post all the shooting tendencies for every player/team as well?.
im glad you are making the updates dynasty friendly by the way. the idea of multiple 99 teams seemed absurd.

from
Gamespot:They have added the EA Locker. It states you can share rosters and scenarios with those on your friends list. The roster sharing from the Locker was great for March Madness last year so it’s nice to have it here. It sounds like you can create scenarios and put them in your locker for other people to download and attempt which could be interesting.

sounds like EA locker would make it a whole lot easier for us to get the rosters from you playmakers. do ywe have to be on your friends list or something? could you look into it please? i think it sounds like a great idea. you are the man playmakers! either that or you are insane to take on a project like this. either way, awesome.

This stuff just keeps getting better the more you observe the ratings.
For example any Big Men that don't run the floor very well you can just set their fast Break Anticipation rating down to 0-5 and guy's like Erick Dampier, Adonal Foyle and Kendrick Perkins won't react like Amare, Garnett or Dirk out on the break. I've started utilizing that rating even further to seperate the big's.
Mental Toughness this will be done on individual basis, it's too much extra stuff on the side that I'm doing to post every thing but trust me if you get your hands on the file in won't matter what you don't know it'll be reflected in the games. The Spurs will have guy's that will clamp down in the 4th qtr and not let fatigue effect them as much as other teams, that is what mental toughness will do for them as they wear teams down late.
Now, I don't know if EA put in some hidden cheat but I've played the Spurs 2-3 games now with their adjusted ratings and in every game i stayed close early or led early and then in the 4th qtr it was crazy my teams shots stopped falling but it felt realistic and Duncan took over each game. Since his Go To Guy rating is now at 99 he's not as active early in games but late he becomes the main man they go to and that's what I wanted to see. They have a play assigned call kill the clock and when you combine that play with their reduced fast break ratings they strictly become a half court team and the scores are low because they are using all of the clock. Parker, Ginoboli, Duncan and Finley will all still try to get out run but for the most part I've managed to hit a great balance will their team.
I also noticed that by reducing the verticals their aren't as many dunks even if the Dunk vs Layup slider is at 100. Some guy's like Ray Allen and Manu Ginoboli have some nice layup animations that might have been hidden because everyone was jumping out the gym and trying to dunk with their default vertical ratings. Duncan barely gets off the ground now but it looks more natural as he'll finesse you in the paint with layups, bank shots and fadeway's. His style is different now from Amare's who will simply try to dunk on your ass every time.
I still have roughly 20 teams remaining becuase I have to edit them and then play them a few times to make sure they are doing what they are suppose to do in games. It really isn't that hard it just takes some time especially with my work schedule. I'd say by this weekend I should have every team ready to rock.

Playmakers, could give me an example of your Mental Toughness settings? Like Duncan or Kobe? Can't wait until you get this done.

Playmakers, now you got me excited to have the new update.
I have one question? I’ve been playing with the Houston Rockets and the automatic substitution is bringing in Aaron Brooks (my point guard) as the center instead of Dikembe Mutombo? I have tried to reposition the Rockets roster and it still does the same damn thing!!! Is that a glitch with EA?

I don't have that problem.
I'll show the depth chart order I have assigned for Houston and it never seems to put any small players at PF or C.
I'll post later tonight after work for you.

Ok here's the setting I have so far for game tempo under fast break anticipation. This will help slow or speed the game down more depending on opponents.
+15........These teams wil run and gun more than anyone else now
Phoenix
Golden St
Washington
Default.......These team are capable of running
Dallas
Boston
Denver
New Jersey
Sacramento
Toronto
-15
Chicago
Milwaukee
Seattle
-35
Atlanta
Charlotte
LA Lakers
Minnesota
Orlando
Utah
-50........These teams will play at slowest pace
San Antonio
Detroit
Miami
Cleveland
Houston
New York
Portland
LA Clippers
Memphis
Philadelphia
Indiana
That's how I have so far.....if anyone disagree's with these settings provide some fedback or which teams you feel should go up or down.
Also keep in mind there are BIG's who will not run the floor the same with the extra edits I'm doing.

Just want to thank you for your hard work. I was a bit disappointed by the AI, but with the new ratings the game runs much better.
I'm waiting for your update.

I haven't done Kobe yet but Duncan got a got +10 increase from 78 to 88. Now, he still rotates on the helpside defense to close off the middle pretty good late in games. This isn't going to be touched for every player just certain individuals. I'm not going to make Jamal Magloire's lazy ass fight through fatigue like TD or KG late in games.

ATHLETICISM RATINGS
Max Speed- (+20) (faster acceleration when lanes are open)
Acceleration- (+20) (Faster first step)
DEFENSE CATEGORY RATINGS
Pass Lane Defense- (+25)
These ratings you posted can't be increased too high because it'll jump the overall team ratings up again. I would only reccomend those changes if you just want a seperate file for games outside of dynasty which will make the CPU much smarter in your pickup games.
Also, in regards to the 1st step they actually have a seperat rating for that but I was considering lowering it especially for all big men because Shaq or Kaman aren't going to explode past anyone in real life. I might lower that rating which takes away overall points and then utilize the extra ratings freed up and apply it to the Rebounding IQ for both offense and defense. The higher you increase the rebounding the IQ the less rebounds you'll see hitting the floor in a game.

hey playmakers, how close are you to finishing your rosters? and i am also curious... what will you do when the next update from EA comes? will you just post who got moved where? curious....

playmakers said: Vertical-(-25).....Drop it down & then increase it back up 25 pt's for each teams top 3 leapers only**
hey playmakers do you mean drop the whole team down 25 pt's except the top 3 leapers? Or do you mean drop the whole team down 25 pt's except the top 3 leapers then add 25 pt's to the top 3 leapers. I had Duncan dunking on me like he was Amare.

That sounds even better! Sounds like there will be more individual ratings involved which makes for better match-up’s even in pick-up games.
Will the new update have the same intensity level that roster version 1 has? Because man” those games gets pretty damn intense!!! I mean down to buzzer beaters!!!

I'll answer all three questions here.
I'll be done hopefully by the end of this weekend. I can't down load EA rosters because it overide all the work I've done on my roster file. They might have some new players included but it's not worth using those rosters for me personally because the players will be smarter on my roster file. EA's rosters only update teams it doesn't give me the same game play I've worked hard to get out of the game.
When you lower the verticals -35 not -25 your going to leave all the players where they are.......then your going to look at each teams highest rated leapers based on vertical after you drop then and then go back up 35 points. There should be 2-3 selected guy's on each team that gets increased back up and Duncan was not one of them on the Spurs. His vertical is still but it makes him play more like Duncan. In fact the layups in general will be seen more often because of this rating change.
Because not all teams are rated as high this team TechDaddy, you might not get those close games all the times. I had to reduce the ratings back down for some teams so that there would be more disparity in the league unfortunatley.
I've also started reducing the 1st Step because with both that rating and the vertical ratings lowered your going to have actually run plays more more often. Not everyone is going to be able to now get to the basket at will and dunk. In fact I think you guy's are going to like the fact that this won't be a dunk fest anymore any time someone gets to the paint. By lowering the 1st Step it freed up points for me to make the rebounding better in the game overall. Players will grab more rebounds in mid air now because I was able to allocate those extra points and apply them to the rebounding IQ ratings....that rating helps players to judge the ball in mid air better and in return less rebounds will hit the floor.
Sat Oct 13, 2007 3:24 am
Considering how much is being changed I hope someone would be kind enough to provide a transfer file like last time. Or maybe someone can hook-up with playmakers locker and transfer the roster?
Sat Oct 13, 2007 4:43 am
Playmakers, thanks for the verticals answer. Can't wait until you get this done this weekend. I do hope you post it like you did your last file.
Sat Oct 13, 2007 8:27 am
Ok before I rap up the file this weekend you can give this a test before I release the final version.
All you have to do is input these ratings for two test teams and let me know if the movement feels ok.
Put the game speed at 20
Set the Dunk vs Layup Slider to 75 or 100
Global Rate two test teams using these ratings for all players
Max Speed-(+15)
Quickness-(+15)
Agility-(+15)
Acceleration-(+15)
Vertical-(-35).....
Lateral Quickness-(+15)
1st Step-(-50)
Once you drop the verticals and 1st step of the players, you will then see 2-3 players that are rated higher then their other team mates in these area's.
Take those 2-3 players on both test teams and increase them back up 35 points for vertical and 20 points for 1st step.
Once you do that increase both the Offensive/Defensive Reb IQ's up +50 or until you see the players on both teams all rated atleast 90 or higher. This doesn't effect their rebounding ratings it only helps them to locate the ball while it is in the air more often before it even touches the floor.
Don't worry about any other ratings you are only looking to observe the following:
Player Movement
Player Rebounding
Player animations for dunking and layups.......this should feel more natural after you lower the verticals and 1st steps. You should be able to see the entire dunk animation now without it being so fast anymore.
Give it a test shot and see how it feels. You should be able to see huge difference trying to take someone off the dribble with a star player compared to a scrub player or Big Man now.
