NBA Live 08 Wishlist

Talk about NBA Live 08 here.

08 wish list!!

Postby toinx101 on Fri Dec 01, 2006 12:09 pm

the last nba live game i've played was live 2005 and im still playing it now. havent played 06 and 07 and im not planning to, so im not sure if the following improvments have already been taken into consideration by EA since 2005...but i'd still like to make a wishlist for 08 anyway... hopefully next years game will be a lot better...

1. players goin through back board as if it wasnt there... EA needs to fix this. its frustrating when your player keeps on ending up doing a lay up behind the back board

2. better crowds.... when opposing team tries shoointg a free-throw, they should make a lotta noise!!

3. red light in backboard when time expires

4. more variety of dunks during games....

5. coaches and players on the bench need more life!! coaches should get mad if their team is down....players on the bench jump up if their team scores....etc.

6. foul away from ball hander

7. nba classic players shouldn't move or play like modern players... from the classic games i've been seeing from the 60s and 70s, players back then weren't as smooth as player today... EA should fix this.... they should have a style from that era...

hmmm, thats all i cud think of....

That's a really good one. However, I wouldn't quite say that players in older eras "weren't as smooth as players today". The style was certainly different though.

Excellent idea, though I'd rather they fix the fundamentals before adding stuff like that.

Sometimes I've wondered if the players from the 70's actually moved differently, or if it was just because of the short shorts that it looked like it. Weird thing to think about.

live 08 wish list

Postby toinx101 on Fri Dec 01, 2006 3:36 pm

having players being out for the rest of the season due to injuries would be nice too...esp in dynasty mode...

adds a touch of realism...

oh and one more thing..... EA alrdy has all arena names in the game, maybe the next step would be to get their specific arena announcers....

hearing the same announcer from the staples center all the way to Madison SG is really lame....

overall, i just want a better game....

You've never had a season ending injury toinx? I've gotten 12-15 week injuries with about 2 weeks left in the season on quite a few occassions (needless to say I wasnt very happy). It truly doesnt happen THAT often in real life and I dont know why people want rare occurrences to occur more in the games. Also about the announcers: while a very cool idea it will never happen. They would have to pay way too many people money that way and it wouldnt be business savvy to do.

Well I think he means more injuries NOT at the end of the season, like the second game of the season and your main man goes down.

I think even having career-ending injuries would be awesome.

Agreed. I too would like to see some other issues addressed first but that would be a nice touch. Even some legend specific dunk packages would be an improvement in that area if a complete set of old school animations was deemed unfeasible.

Injuries that don't end a player's career but nag him for the rest of it and/or force him to adapt his game would also be a fine addition. As long as they're handled properly that would add an interesting challenge to Dynasty Mode. It couldn't be too random and would have to be the result of a severe injury or ongoing condition. It'd be silly to have a player sprain a finger and never be the same player again.

here are things I wanna see and things I wanna see stay

Things I wish to see

1. The Ability to save a game and come back to it later
2. Multi player dynasty mode (this was my biggest frustration with live 07 because NBA 2K7 had up to 8 teams which i wish Live would have done)
3. overhead announcer during the starting lineup to say the rookies name instead of saying number 41
4. Half Time Shows (with cheerleaders)
5. Mini Games - Horse , around the world and nickels and dimes
6. Have some 19 years old players in dynasty mode to come from High School in the draft
7. Add in team stats during the game biggest lead after each quarter for each team
8. Allow Trades on draft night
9. 3 way trading
10- Full and 20 second time outs
11- Better Generated Rookies (stop doing the 6'1" SG) here is how it should look
C- 6'10"- 7"6
PF- 6'8"- 7'2"
SF- 6'6"- 7'1"
SG- 6'4"- 6'10"
PG- 5'5'- 6'8"

theres just too many undersized shooting guards I can see maybe one or two once in a while but you dont' see a lot of 6'1" SG in most nba drafts.

12. Have Rookies in the drafts with nicknames (this idea not necessarily but thought it would be cool) for example Bobby Jones might be BJon

13. add or create up to 6 teams in the league and put them in a city given from a list of cities (for example maybe you name your team Kansas City Eagles)

14. Play of the day/ week / month/ season

15. Players stop going through the backboard

16. Game Scores listed in a newspaper form for example Kevin Garnett leads the Wolves to victory with 26 points and 16 rebounds to beat the Chicago Bulls 110-106

17. Have teams actually want your 1st or 2nd round draft picks

18. trade for future draft picks

19. in dynasty mode let's say your in season 2010 it shows past draft picks each year from the start of your dynasty mode

20. list what team for example Kevin Garnett wants to be traded too if he didn't want to stay in minnesota

21. Add South America and Australia to scouting

22. Summer League to check out new rookies for longer.

23. Save in the middle of offseason mode

ok things I did like about live 07 that i hope they keep in future lives

team chemistry- i think this is great to have and i highly enjoy this

espn mock draft- i enjoyed this although I think these should give the players full name and not just for example C. Brown)

draft - i was impressed that you get graded on your picks

road trip- i just thought this was a cool feature

numbers were more readable which wasn't in 06.

defense to me was more of an upgrade which impressed me alot.

i think though that this game was better than 06 was and i am looking forward to seeing more live games soon. i hope they keep though new features that i mentioned that i liked.

Wow, dascoot, you sure have a good imagination! There's a lot of good stuff on that list I hadn't thought of.

I think Draft Night could be an entirely more detailed and enhanced experience, on par perhaps with how the All Star Game is handled. You could actually enter that big old dining room (or whatever it is) with Commish Stern on stage and have players seated at tables around the room. There'd also be the option to give or receive trade offers throughout the 'night'. But also the option to just have the old minimalist draft if you're not bothered.

Maybe during the season you could scout through the NCAA, Europe, South America, China, High Schools etc. rather than just have a long list of hopefuls.

I agree with you about the heights of rookies. Though, of course, there are a few Centers less than 6'10" (Big Ben, Fortson, Shelden Williams) and Charles Barkley was technically a 6'5" Power Forward. A lot of the time I just Edit a player who's a 6'6" SF to make him a SG and stuff.

I think an Auto-Scout function for rookie scouting should be an option (manual scouting always remaining, of course). I'd rather just let him do his stuff and come back with the results than manually tell him what to do each week.

To aid realism, I'd like it if big-ass dunks only happened after a player made a run to the basket. I'm playing now and I've just got Vince Carter standing at the free throw line, I trigger a FSS dunk and he suddenly discovers momentum from nowhere to get up for the dunk. Although, on SuperStar level since the all the defense does it bash into you there'd be no opportunity to make a FSS dunk since momentum towards the basket never occurs anyway...

I'd also like EA to make a low-graphics version for people who can't afford to update their PC every 3 years  Now that the patch and everything is working on my NBA Live 07, I still play Live 06 because my PC can't handle the graphics and my gameplay framerate is slow as hell.

NBDL

It would be great if EA added the NBDL in 2008. And have the callup system as in real life.

EA came up with a DVD full of scrap. I believe that when they address the major flaws from 07(if they don't, it would certainly come out again in 08), then add the custom animation thingies.

apart from vastly improved AI (meaning the computer beats you by better plays and execution, not by "magic"), i would like to see a techincal fouls resulting from unsportsmanlike behavior (and maybe fights!).

and i would like to see less of "celebratory bad timings" (ie: a blocker joyously celebrating a blocked shot when their team is down by 50)

does the current nba live have a three way trading system? if it doesn't then that feauture would be welcome too.

not having to micromanage the staff (scout, assistant, etc) would be very nice.

fights? why fights? what is this obsession with fights? it is not truly a common occurence and is severely frowned upon by the NBA. Being able to yell about a call or something would be nice similar to the arguing with the umps in MVP baseball (and being able to choose between your player and your coach to yell). You dont see celebratory bad timings in real sports? it happens all the time. Remember Bill Grammatica blowing out his knee after an extra point even though his team had no shot in hell? Its a common occurrence. Three way trades would be excellent to be added in. Micromanaging the staff is what most people crave out of dynasty mode. Perhaps an option to not have to, making a Multiple season mode in addition of "dynasty mode" could fix that problem...

I don't think it's worth mentioning fights becuase, whether you want them in the game or not, the NBA would never license a game with fights in.

Lebron James is likely to end up at a Big Market Team sometime in his career. Superstars should be more likely to be traded to the Lakers, Bulls and Knicks... possibly.

More wishes

Postby tnt23 on Fri Dec 08, 2006 9:00 am

Allright here it is i tried to not repeat previous wishes i liked

- EA should hire or at least inspire itself n reward some of the people who do great patches on this forum...
- Allstars teams n classic teams available for online mode /// Include more stuff like glenn 06 classic teams add on
:!: :!:
- REMATCH button for online mode !!! :x vs :x
- possibility to save game or somehow auto save at each quarter n recover from last quarter if connection lost happens...
- better CHAT interface online mode (possibility to chat at choose team screen, n type long sentences n use numbers...) :!: :!: :!:
- 3-4 on the fly Replays per game back in online mode like in 05 :?: :?: :?:
- Show Best replays at half time like PES 6
- Replays should start from a few seconds before like in 05 not actual 07
- A little kid  or teammate to send you the ball for better n faster practicing at shooting from a position in practice mode
- better sfx (THX to the guy who did BLOCK SHOT FIX!!its amazing)
- Slam Dunk Pratice mode in court n camera view of allstarweekend (some evolution in that mode wouldnt hurt)
- customizable speech id for arena and tv speaker (like fsh in sgsm)
- better angles for press camera: hard to see players at opposite side of the court sometimes
- FSS is cool but more packs would be nicer cuz it got some people doing windmills that never do it...
- Jordan speech id updated to Michael Jordan :P
- Customs team creation mode in roster management
- not fights, but maybe a more in your face attitude after doing a blok or a dunk on somebody
-rebound jump direction need to be fixed...sometime its better to stand there than jump :(

Rebounding Totally Sucks

Postby CosmoKramer422 on Mon Dec 11, 2006 11:18 am

The Rebounding in the game is really bad, and gets me mads alot of the times.....And sometimes the ball actually hit's the hardwood before anyone touches it....Leaving guys scrambling for the ball by the 3-points line...

Another thing, when shooting a 3-pointer from the corner and giving a fake, the other guys jumps and pushes you out of bounds......That's happened a few times....

The moves suck in the game....Alot of them are hard to remember and execute....FSS just really sucks...Get rid of it.....

What else...What else.....

I still feel like I am playing the same old live from back in the day...I just started playing live again on my PC, and it's seems like the same problems from 5 years ago.....graphics are better, but gameplay really stinks......We shouldn't have to download patches that fix pg domination, or that change the ai in the game....EA needs to make the game playable right out of the box....I wouldn't even play the game if it wasn't for the patches......

I don't know, there are SO MANY problems with the live series....All i know, they better do something about it, because 2K7 is awesome. and if they want to compete, they need to change their whole game....From the bottom up.....I've been playing live since 95 on the genesis...when Live was the ONLY good basketball game......I want to see them do good.....So EA, please listen to the people who actually play the game...We know what we are talking about......Do your god damn job....who the hell do you guys have working on 07...whoever they are, Fire them...and FIRE THEM NOW...

This is an idea I came up with to finally give us a better scouting/rookie system.

-We get the same results the first 5 times we scout a player. Then we start getting numbers after we scout even more,. Or a range of numbers. What are the letters comparing too. Bad rookies might have a B or a C, but everything else is an F.

-Balance rookies, average worse Top 5, better everything else. No more draft n' fire 2nd rounders.

-No more draft grade that changes the players overall, doesnt work like that.

-In depth player bio's with strength and weakness statements found pre draft for all rooks, not just the games fave 3.

-An NBA player comparrison, a short video recievable by scouting.

-Mock Draft with the afore-mentioned features available to see when name is clicked on. eg http://www.nbadraft.net/.

-The ability to follow college scores with a switch icon in Box Scores. Long term scouting (for a player in a draft years ahead).

-Rookies that drop out of a draft.

-A rare good 2nnd rounder.

-Ability to play March Madness games to get first hand rookie experience. Or at least the ability to see college Box Scores to see numerals of players abilities. If not too much an actual ratings list of players ability on a college level (numbers are higher by a certain percent based on an unshown ability rank)

-Announced rookie names, both announcers and commentaries.(NHL 06 feature)

-talk about rookies about their college career, like real rookies.

Any other ideas would be well recieved. And if they can put the CGI face next to the players name and in the starting list, why can they not put it instead of the black sillouette in-game.

Don't know if these has ever been mentioned but.....

it would be good if we could have control over our injured players i.e Tim Duncan had plantar fasciitis last season and played @ 80% the whole time. What i'm suggesting is having the option to shut the player down for an extended period of time so that he can recover to 100%. This of course would mean that the game would need "season long" injuries. So basically, some injuries will have the option of playing through the whol season @ X% or shutting down for X weeks to be back @100%.

Imagine losing a player for 8 weeks and you have no depth to survive that. Instead you choose to play him @ 75% but his recovery time increases to say 14 weeks.

Secondly.....fatigue should be expanded....so that players tire quicker on the 2nd of a back to back and even quicker on the 4th game in 5 nights. That way we'd be forced to use our bench.

Thirdly.....player development should be two-fold
1. training
2. playing time
this would be just like in the NBA, where 1 + 2 = higher chance of maximising potential. This would make garbage time minutes mean something, or even make throwing in a young (but bad) player into the rotation/starting line up at the expense of a better veteran worthwhile.

I think these 3 would help close the gap between the game and the real deal.

my WL for 08

Better grapics "3D" crowds instead of 2D
xbox 360 areanas, flashing ads, and rotating spotlights during starting lineups.
"Defensive" "X" Factor
new dunks.
better online play like fifa 07 and madden
not being disconneted if something like a pop up blocker interferes with your game, should still be able to keep playing like on madden.
ability to watch sportscenter, PTI around the horn etx.
ingame reports (sportscenter 30/30, haiftime report, highlites) during season and dynasty modes.
see players go to table when getting ready to sub in.
gamebreaker, (like ncaa final four or ncaa football) where the camera shakes when u shoot free throws, in other words, better momentum swinger.
bench players pumps up the crowds(waving towels and shirts).
crowds using thundersticks and waving towels during playoff games.
sideline interviews and reports(like nfl 2k5 for ex.)
since its espn intergration, Hope ea uses michelle tafoia as sideline reporter.
press confrence after game.
halftime shows.(danceteams, activites)
mascots
dancers on floor during timeouts
see coaches drwing up plays during timeouts. and finally
nbdl(minor leagues) and ability to play with NBDL TEAMS (like MVP BASEBALL)
All 4 One
One 4 All
together we stand, devided we fall
Do unto others as you would have them do unto You.

1. Display more stats during a game (pop-ups).
2. I play on the highest resolution but still the menus that come up after someone gets fouled look too big, low resolution and poor graphics
3. The commentary should be focused more on the gameplay not random sentences.

I have 3 wishes.

1) At the end of quarters red light turns
on on the backboard.
2) Fix all bugs before the game release.
3) More runner-ups for awards. Not only
MVP. Like Rookie of the Year and Most
Improved Player etc.
