I kow, i know... That's why i have fears...
We haven't seen anything yet for pc.

Sorry, I thought you meant you were afraid that a PC version would not be released, which isn't the case. There'll be a PC version but it remains to be seen what improvements have been made.

PROS
*Love the dribbling
*AI seems to be improved
*The point guard (Tony Parker in this case) didn't seem to be dominating
*Like the graphics/models so far
CONS
*Post game still seems a little wierd
*Overall locomotion seems a bit hectic (not the baseline-to- baseline "speed" of the players, but just there movements seem a touch too quick or something)
*This tells me nothing about how the game will be on my system (PS2)

So, as far as I know, my Live 08 experience could end up being as terrible as '07 was for PS2.
TOTALLY OFF TOPIC but... LMAO at the awkward moment of silence between the producer and the host at 3:30

AI looks a lot better, the fastbreaks are great.
I still don't know how i find the hotspots and the Own The Paint-feature.
Post play animations don't look that real to me, especially in the first play by the producer.
Murphy got the ball down low, made some moves and dribbled out of the zone again, then made a little tear drop.
The dunks don't look realistic either.
For the PC version I'm expecting a roster-only update anyway.

^^i think the reason the post moves didn't look as good as they should of was because he was tryna show the moves you could do instead of chaining them together

Take all the stuff he said in the video and divide by two, maybe even 3. I don't think PC will feature any signature jumpshots, but hopefully the dynasty mode is going to be the same as in 360/ps3 for pc.

Overall a huge improvement. I hate dunk animation, still looks like it changes speed in between animations.
Sun Jul 15, 2007 9:34 am
looks good. Dunks seem a bit stiff though. Looks like I have to get myself an xbox 360

Hopefully that will be the case. From what I saw at the community day if they share the Dynasty Mode features and ensure there are no issues like the substitution bug and that we have a fatigue effect slider, the PC version should be fairly well received.

The game looks like an overall huge improvement especially with the new dribbling, rebound, and shot animations. AI do seem smarter as well. The game looks just so much smoother that it reminds you of the 2k series when the guy takes a fade. Defense looks like it still needs ironing out though. The stealing doesn't look very good at this point. On the fast break as mentioned by others, the defenders simply look as the ball goes right pass them. The scenario is 2 guys on offense with the defender in the middle. The guy passes the ball straight to the other guy and doesn't even draw contest from the defender. In the NBA this would be a steal easily. In order to fix this they need to tweak the contextual passes to not make a pass like that and the way stealing works so if a pass like that was made, it would be stolen. That seems to be the biggest problem so far. Other minor problems include AI seems to miss the wide open shots a little too much, its still jerky sometimes (at one point the player starts shaking while taking free throws), and the post play needs some work also.
On a side note I hope everyone will express their outrage if Live 09 is still not next gen (assuming this year's isn't).

the animations iin 2k are smooth, but they don't translate well to the controls so it feels more clunky and unnatural than anytihng else.

The PC version definitely isn't Next Gen this year.

oh and a minor issue i have with the letters on the back of the Warriors and possibly other jerseys. the letters in real life are taller and skinnier but they looked smushed on the jerseys in Live

that looks so cool
and the good news is he said theres going to be a demo

well, it'll be stupid for live not to implement signature shots cause they take the freestyle garbege out and there must be enough space for them, if not, ı certainly can't get joy of playing an authentic nba game after ı played 2k on ps2 with signature shots..

just watched the video, the game definitely looks a lot better....
pros:
- net animations look sweet
- 60fps
- graphically very good
- cutscenes are back in games
- quick strike ballhandling
- game looks a lot more fluid
- AI seems improved
- Improved post play
- Fastbreaks seem more fluid (even if they are too plentiful at this stage)
cons:
- occasional framerate issues/jerkiness on some animations (although they should really clean this up prior to release you would hope)
- too many CPU fastbreaks (Spurs were fastbreaking everytime they go the ball, although I do recall reading previously that it will be toned down)
- game speed is a tad too quick (can be adjusted with sliders, but they should tone back a little)
- small lettering on back of jerseys (minor grievance)
- no in-game saves (I'm guessing)
It wasn't much to run off to make any conclusions, but at least they'll willing to show it & release demos this year, which suggests they might release a decent product this year, as opposed to the last two....

you know what i miss, in live 05 when you paused it and it showed the stats leaders for each team, i could see they didnt bring that back

The X wrote:no in-game saves (I'm guessing)
Unless it was well-hidden, I didn't see a facility for in-game saves and nothing was said so I'd say it's safe to assume they won't be in the game this year.

the player animations on the bench
Mon Jul 16, 2007 1:26 am
By the way the animations look. . I think it'll be fun to play a slow down game in Live!! But its nice that you can play both!! This game plays like the 90's version of Live, with post play. I'm actually excited
Mon Jul 16, 2007 4:41 am
this kind of reminds me of my fav live..2004, the way the player models are..and i think thats a good thing

Now they've switched the names, and the 360/ps3 version is called current gen and ps2/pc/xbox are called past gen

Suckers!

Definetaly a great step towards a realistic basketball experience! Quick Strike Ball Handling is a really useful and promising feature as from what we could see! I think dunks looked OK, especially the ones Duncan threw down, they were authentic! Jumpshots look leaps ahead of previous releases, and net animation is lifelike too...
AI looked improved as well
Though animations have been miles closer to realism than the ones in 07, there were some unnatural moves and locomotion as you all have mentioned! But so far thumbs up for the EA guys! I hope I didn't boast them too much..
This game definetaly makes me consider buying an Xbox 360!
The PC version is getting suspicious for me now...If the case is what Andrew said, that they didn't bring the next gen to the PC, they have to come up with something really impressing to keep PC users satisfied!

it took me a little while to warm up to live on the pc at first, or any sports game for that matter(live was the first sport game i got into on the pc). once i did though i loved it and honestly never wanted to go back to console for anything really. this year i am finally gonna bite the bullet and get a next gen though so i think i will have to get live for a console again, it just seems like it will be superior on the next gens.
then again, without in game saves i dont know if i will get it for a console. maybe someone with a 360 or ps3(opinions for each prefered) can tell me how long you can/should leave a 360 or ps3 on without doing anything. like can i pause the game and leave for 4 hours then come back to it or will the system screw up? infact how long can those consoles be played without interuption without any over heating or crap like that?
