how can i fix that bug, that crashes everytimes i play this game. When my team or the CPU teams calls time out it crashes already, or at the end of the 1st quarter!!! :?:

Sun Nov 11, 2007 12:12 am

buy and original game and you will not have that problem   . i'm sick and tired of those who have pirated versions of nba live 08 and complaining everday abot that same issues. i think those kind of post shoud be deleted. this is for real game problems and issues.

now, back to the real issues. this one is for cpu controlled team gameplay. i noticed that they finish their attack just in few seconds. they never take a longer attack. it's just "catch and shoot". it was not the case in prevoius version of nba live.

also when playing against cpu, computer controlled team is always shooting above 60% from the filed (on all star level). it's crazy!!! this sholud also be fixed.

1. After the cpu shoots a free throw, the player i am controlling cant move until the ball is either rebounded or goes in the hoop.

2. Defense never makes it back on time to stop the offense, which makes the game boring, frustrates me and difficult to want to continue playing.

3. CPU drives about 80% of the time, too unrealistic that every one backs down to the hoop giving up open shots. (play cleaveland or new york and see what i mean when Lebron and Marburry drive non stop)

4. I dont know if its me but it seems like both teams are playing with a lid on the rim most of the time when a jump shot is taken. No matter how high you set the short, mid or long range shots, its almost impossible that the ball goes it. (i dont know if i just suck but i remember being better at live than this, i would be interested to know your opinions on that one)

Mon Nov 12, 2007 3:38 am

1. I can't substitute players when I shoot free throws (If the CPU does I can)

2. If I want to do a step back at the three point line, my players are sometimes posting up and it's difficult to make them facing the basket again...

3. superstar players are to dominant...

4. I haven't won a game yet...this has to be a bug... (N)

another bug is when your defending the player with the ball and you're using the "defense assist/back down" button and they pass the ball, you automatically switch the the player whos defending the player that just got the ball. This can be confusing down in the paint when so many people are around and dont even notice a pass until its too late.

thats not a bug...

I've also noticed that Cpu players always go to their star player and bomb you with 10-12 consecutive shots, cpu laways plays run and gun which so annoying. I played against the Nuggets, Cavs, Rockets, Mavs, their star player always scored 40+ points in game. Though its not a bug, but It could possibly the AI has something to do with this unrealistic gameplay..

I'll be sending the info to them as well. (Y)

I've been sending them regular updates since I started the thread.

i really do not have any major problem gameplay-wise (i tweaked a lot of the sliders and it went well) or system-wise(no crash, freeze, pc resetting these whole time) except the substitution pattern, the big men gets 'subbed' a lot compared to the guards in black-and-white comparison. But i can live with that anyway.

THE BIGGEST PROBLEM I HAVE IS:

The DYNASTY STATS- people averaging 40 points per game in the middle of the season? assist leader, OKAFOR?, Rebounding average for big men 8.9? steal 1.3? block 1.5? 68% 3pt leader? Wow! I am a fantasy freak so it hurts me a lot to see those things...
i found it here in the forums people who are trying to fix this thing and they are not done yet, i hope they finish it soon so that I can enjoy 08 in PC. weeee!

3 Point Shooting

Tue Nov 13, 2007 12:03 pm

I'm only able to hit about 10% of 3's- even in the player's Hot Zone and open for the shot. In the '07 version, I hit about 35% with the better shooters. Is this a bug in need of a patch, or is this a problem for anyone else? I'm using the PC version, and playing the game in Super Star mode.

It at least a problem for me. I mostly play the Hornets ... and Peja Stojakovic is one of the best three point shooters in the game. Yet even if he is wide open and nobody within 30 feet of him he misses them. Thats totaly ridicoulus ...

I can understand if he doesn't hit them when not in his hot spot and if the shot is heavily contested. But not when he stands alone there and has time to go up and shoot perfectly.

You have to turn the long range sliders up to insane hights to get decent production out of him ... in '07 I had these sliders:

Short range - 33
Medium range - 35
Long range - 37

and it worked rather well ... but now with the same sliders its absolutely impossible to hit anything from beyond the arc. And with Peja even from within the arc ...

I am now trying with S/M/L Range 43/45/55 sliders ... and I hope thats better.

I've been able to work around the whole not being able to control a post player during fouls shots thing. I just switch it to where I'm controlling a guard, so at least I'm not handcuffed with one fewer guy going after boards. But hopefully EA will fix that in their first patch.

And I know it's already been beaten to death, but I get the same BS with the PG driving and penetrating on almost every single play. It's not so bad when it's someone like Lebron or even Marbury, but when Kirk Hendrich is taking 30 shots a game (most of them layups) it's ridiculous.

I'm really disappointed in this year's game right out of the box. This is the first Live game I've bought since NBA Live 05, and there are so many basic things wrong with the gameplay. The game testers much have been on crack or something.

Thu Nov 15, 2007 10:29 am

Disappointed is not a strong enough word ... ridicoulus and down right insulting would be more appropriate.

I just tested something. Turned the game speed to 100, as well as all 3 shooting sliders.

This is what I came up with after 18 minutes of play (12 minute quarters, superstar) against the San Antonio Spurs. I didn't sub ...

Code:
Name              Pts  Rebs Ast Blk Stl TO Fouls Mins FG/Att FG%  3P/Att 3P%  FT/Att FT%   O. Reb D. Reb

T. Chandler       10   9    4   3   0   0  1     18   4/6    .667 0/0    -    2/2    1.000 6      3
D. West           6    5    3   1   2   0  1     18   2/5    .400 0/1    .000 2/2    1.000 1      4
P. Stojakovic     38   1    0   0   1   1  1     18   16/27  .593 6/17   .353 0/0    -     0      1
M. Peterson       20   3    5   0   3   1  0     18   7/16   .438 4/11   .364 2/2    1.000 0      3
C. Paul           8    3    9   0   4   0  4     18   4/13   .308 0/8    .000 0/0    -     0      3

I led 82 to 60something ... which was to be expected, but the numbers are not expected. I have one of the best 3pt. shooters in the game on my team ... and he still only makes 6/17? Chris Paul is able to shoot the ball ... still, he didn't make a single 3pter. Overall I shot 33/67 ... thats not even 50%. 10/37 from 3pt land ... thats .270.

At first those stats look pretty normal ... but I turned the shooting sliders up to 100 for short, medium and long range shooting.

Thats just plain ridicoulus ... Peja should have knocked all those 3pters down, as he had great position for every last one of them.

This just shows imho, how much downhill the AI went ...

GAMEPLAY! worst gameplay ever, everytime you score, the cpu pg will dribble up the court, pass it to the star player and then he will immediately shoot/drive in for the basket. There's no team concept, no passing involved, no strategy and it's very repetitive which makes this game really really boring!

MadbaLL wrote:and one more thing i came up with this morning.... TRAVELLING! i never get that call, either CPU. for example, when i'm running with the ball and i stop and when i try to continue with moving with that player he won't move. he will stand in the place. in nba live 07 i was able to continue moving and of course i would get a travelling call. why did they move that? it was great. travelling is one of the most frequent calls in basketball. i want that back in nba live 08.

well, it is. I get called for traveling quite often. Just do a pro-hop and then try to run again, you will be called.

Sun Nov 18, 2007 11:31 am

Ah .. don't know if anybody reported that already, but it seems the clock doesn't stop after you hit a shot.

Mon Nov 19, 2007 2:03 am

The cpu AI, the Sim AI and the computing subing are all messed up. Almost everygame the computer will call timeout within the first few min of the 1st quarter and then sub out there forwards/center with backups, which makes no sence at all. They also seem completely oblivious to foul situation because they'll leave there players in who have 4 fouls in the 2nd quarter. LOL We need to get the cpu to get some more Artifical INTELLEGENCE!

Tue Nov 20, 2007 9:04 pm

i think the gameplay bugs is all because of the go to moves guys cus the cpu always passes the ball to their main man which has a go to move...

Hi Andrew! Here are other bugs I've found :
1) CPU SHOTCLOCK USAGE : It seems that they don't use/mind the shotclock. After inbound, they tend to shoot too early. They still have 19 secs on the shotclock but they don't use it. I think it regards with the AIACT bug or such.

2) It's too darn easy for CPU to block USER shots. But if you check the stat sheet, the said block was not counted. Weird! I think this one is a bug because I can't fix it even after experimenting the sliders.

Hope this can help!

Wed Nov 21, 2007 8:44 pm

Hi Andrew!
I think I've found a good fix for the CPU SHOTCLOCK USAGE. I've followed Steeleman about editing the team.dbf for default gameplays for each team. And using the AIACT from Clydeli, the CPU now takes the ball to midcourt and setup the play mostly. And if you are wary of the SHOTCLOCK USAGE, I can say that they are using it correctly most of the time. I even made them violate the shotclock. . .haha. . .Cheers!

fatigue

Thu Nov 22, 2007 6:51 am

Maybe no one else is having this issue, but my starters never seem to fatigue enough to warrant getting some time on the bench. I have played 5 min, 8 min, and 10 min quarters. I do not think the fatigue scales for the quarter length, as my players do fatigue slightly more in 10 min quarters than in 5 min quarters.

Perhaps this issue needs to be addressed. As of yet I have found no in-game setting to fix the problem.

Fri Nov 23, 2007 12:41 am

Have you tried increasing the Fatigue Effect to High? Not necessarily the best solution but the best one that's readily available at the moment, in the absence of a slider. It's something for the list though.
