Playmaker,
in the roster file you have just released there are all the changes in slider settings (like HUMAN OFF. REB. down to 10 and so on??)
Another thing, I read the instructions to put the roster and slider file into my xbox360 but I need community help, could you be so kind to write here a step by step detailde instructions to be able to use Playmaker roster/slider file and to have it associated to my own profile?
For xbox360!
I really need step by step instructions!
THANKS!

I posted a link on the front page as to how you can convert the profile to your own.

Also to answer a few other questions, there were about 35 of the 50+ free agaents edited already. MOst of the one's that weren't most likley were big men who are slow anyway. I wanted to edit most of the perimeter players because the speed changes would've effected them the most. There were a few big's that were edited because I expect them to play like Webber and P.J. Brown

In regards to EA's download for new rosters I can't use it because it'll overide all the work I've done on the file. I'd rather create 3-4 guy's that will actually play this year and add them the file already then down load the rosters by EA which will have the players back at default and not provide me the same game play.

I also posted a new update with the specific team ratings on the front page. There are some teams missing because I forgot to keep track of them but the 19 teams on the front page should give you an idea of how I came up with the ratings for all teams. That information might be of good importance to those who don't have a transfer kit or have the PS3 version of this game and want to edit the rosters for that system.

Thanks playmakers for your rosters!!! Now the gameplay is better. Some things that i found:
1. Cpu is not trying enough 3 points now in my opinion
2. I'm trying now to adjust a little your sliders for a realistic stats in 12min/quarter
becouse now there are about 95/100 shots per team in a 48 min/game. Now i have the game speed on 19 (you set 10-15 but i found that the moviment of players cutting and blocking is too slow. To reduce the number of shots maybe i will try to increase the fouls (but the the reach-in fouls).

Thu Oct 18, 2007 6:23 am

for lower scoring 12 minute quarters, i would suggest running plays and using the shot clock whenever you are in a half court set. you could also lower the game speed slider all the way down, and dropping the inside scoring, midrange and layups by 5 fro both cpu and user (i wouldnt drop the 3pt slider, as its already hard to make them)

i also dropped the cpu interception slider down to 25 because i got tired of them picking off every pass and fast breaking on me. i dropped charging foul slider to 0 because even at the lowest setting you will get called for it if you try a layup and the defender is planted in front of you. but thats just me....

I’ve played a few games now and the speed feels better at slider 20… I also have a question about defense:

When the player walks the ball down the court is there a way to apply pressure? It seems that pressure is not applied until the player gets past half court line? :?

The older versions you could pressure the ball anywhere on the court!

Here's some answers in this post

CPU not shooting enough 3's?

You can actually go in and look at each teams top 3-PT shooters and increase their 3-PT shooting likley hood by +10 to get them to shoot more 3's. I would'nt touch the PG's because unless it's Davis, Hinrich, Arenas or Billups. There's a few others but I'm afraid increasing their shooting likely will have counter effect on them launching up more shots without running the offense. I also have some 3-PT tendencies by jdubs that you can input by individual if you like.

Applying Presure on the ball?
Under Team strategy you can set the defensive pressure for each posistion. You can also use the defensive playbooks on the file. I didn't post them but their are zones, full court pressures and traps assigned for each team. You just have to select the defensive play.

Game Speed?
That should be tweaked to your preference. I went with the lower speed but it will stay play at a good pace if you use between 15-20. Someone posted speed at 18 feels really good.

The most recent slider changes I made after more games is as follow:

Human Drop Step-0.....Since I boosted up the footwork of all players you can set this at 0 and let their rating control how effective they work in the post using the drop step.

Human Shot Blocking-5......I was starting to see to many perimeter blocks again maybe because of the improved On ball effectiveness of the players. I would lower this back down to 5

CPU Sliders-I didn't change anbything because I like the CPU defense maxed out as much as possible. Now, that doesn't have to be th ecase for everyone. Remember sliders are only based off an individual's playing style and don't be afraid to adjust any slider that doesn't feel right for your style of play.

Created Players?
There's only about 4-5 guy's I'm going to create in the next few days. I'm not going to create any guy's that most likley won't make an impact on their team meaning they'll be 10-12th men in the rotation at best.

defensive post up strength is too high for the cpu. every center pushes shaq off the block. perhaps it should be back to default?

kingjames23 wrote:defensive post up strength is too high for the cpu. every center pushes shaq off the block. perhaps it should be back to default?

I lowered it to 65 which is close to the average rating of most of the big's I saw rated in the game. I'm not sure why EA rated most of these guy's that weak. I think Dampier was around a 70 and Mourning about 77 which is crazy because even though those guy's aren't very agile they are stronger in terms of low post defensive strength.

If 65 still seems to high then yeah you could lower it down to about 50-55 but at default I felt like I could back down Shaq with Stromile Swift's string bean azz..

What's up Pistonpete?

For PS3 users check out the front page of the thread I posted all the changes for those who don't have a transfer kit and would like to input the numbers manually.

There is a global ratings section that you would use for all teams and then there is a section i posted for individual teams. Make sure the lineups for each teams starters is listed the way the depth chart thread under playbooks has it because that will give the exact team overall ratings I posted orclose to it if you input the numbers posted.

There are 9-10 teams missing but you can use your best judgement on how to rate those teams when comparing them the one's I posted.

Thanks, PM. I just got the game (rented it to see if i like it, and its way better than last years, although i thought 06 with your edits was pretty decent.) the only aggrevating animation i see and i wonder if it can be remedied is the one where the PG goes for a steal when i bring the ball up the court; also, in my first game the PG committed 3 offensive charging fouls in the first quarter. have you seen this? any solution?
(after realizing i would have to tweal all those ratings, i decided to rent the 360 version instead of PS3.) btw, PM good to see you're still doin' your thing; OS isn't the same without your expertise. take care...

Rosters are up to date pretty much accept for guy's i didn't create on the file.

The depth charts I arranged on the file are pretty accurate based on NBA.com
http://www.nba.com/preview2007/phi.html

There's a few guy's starting like Eddie Jones on the file because I got tired of seeing the Mavs run Stackhouse at PG which ain't gonna happen in real life. So, I put Jones in the starting lineup and Jet Terry as the backup PG which isn't that far off because Avery wants a bigger SG starting anyway this year and Terry will come off the bench in Live and still get his points and lot's of minutes.

This weekend I'll post 4-5 CAP's for guy's I'm adding to the rosters if you guy's want to use them on the file.

Penny Hardaway-Miami
Louis Scola-Houston
Juan Carlos Navarro-Memphis
Glen Davis-Boston

Those are the only guy's right now that I feel is worth the time to create and add to the rosters. I didn't see anyone else that will be more than just a 11th or 12th guy or on IR most of the year. Some might even be headed to the NBDL so I see no point in waisting time creating them just to have them in the game or for the rosters to be 100% perfect.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's the latest tweaks I made specifically to the sliders. If you have the file you'll have to adjust them on your own as these changes were made after the file was released.

Game Speed 14 or 18.......(File was set at 10 and I wanted something between 10, 15 & 20 and these two settings both felt pretty good)

Human Shot Block-5........(Foul was at 10 but players closer out better now so I reduced this down to 5)

Human Offensive Rebounding-5.......(Was at 25 on the file but the players got a boost up through ratings so this i would bring back down)

Human Drop Step-0.........(This was at 10 but really 0 puts the finesse moves more in the human players hands no boost is needed by the sliders)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
CPU the only changes I made was lower their Defensive Post strength down to 65. File was at 75, could go down lower but I wouldn't go below 50.

Replay Camera-Turn it Off and give a test shot with one of the new camera settings posted. I've experienced very little slow down now possibly because the engine isn't saving so many replays.

The best way to try and solve this problem if you want to play 12 minutes is to make sure you set both the Human and CPU team strategy sliders before each game.

I don't think many guy's realize you can do this before the game. You have the option to set the team strategy for bith sides to BOX OUT and GET BACK on defense. I do it using 8 and 9 minute qtr's and both my squad and the CPU's squad try to do a good job hustling back on defense and also boxing out more often.

At default both of those sliders are in the middle. You have to select the CPU team at the start of the game set their team strategy slider save it and then switch over to your team either before or right after the jump ball and then make the same changes.

I would'nt do this if your playing Golden St or Phoenix because those teams like to run and if you lower their team fast break slider they won't push it as much doing the game.

just wondering how people using these slider/playbook/player edits rate the game now for 360/PS3....can people who are using it give a rating (out of 10) for NBA Live '08 out of the box, post-Playmakers' edits, & compared to NBA 2k8 out of the box?!?

I wasn't planning on getting the game for PS3, but if game plays very well with these adjustments & better than 2k8, then might be worth a try....don't know if I could be bothered doing all the changes manually on PS3 though....

if I was to get it for PS3, what are the main categories that need to be adjusted?!? I can always tweak the rest later, just curious on main adjustments required, i.e. Game Speed, Offensive Awareness, Rebounding, Hustle, etc

Sat Oct 20, 2007 5:21 pm

how do you set the team strategy to GET BACK and BOX OUT without calling a timeout in the game? before the jump ball? i cant figure it out.

Sun Oct 21, 2007 1:42 am

i added cabrillo24 as a frined, but he didn;t accept me so i still don;t have the rosters, cause i can;t get it from his EA locker.

If you don't want to do team specific ratings I would atleast do all of the Global Ratings in terms of the speed attributes & rebounding edits.

The tendencies I assigned was to get the players to take shots from mid range jumpers to 3's a way for them react more like they do in real games. Those were tendencies giving to me by jdubs that work really well but I wouldn't reccomend them for all PG's, only the other players from SG's, SF's PF's and C's.

In terms of how the game stacks up to NBA 278.....that'll be more of personal opinion. I'd say out of the box Live will have issues that might frustrate you more often. My edits doesn't make the game perfect but I think they add a little more playability to game but it has to be done as a package sliders, edits and playbooks to maximize the playing experience atleast for me it did compared to out of the box play.

Sun Oct 21, 2007 10:24 am

I hate to sound like a dope, but I just want to make sure that I get this correct. How do I make sure that the global settings, i.e. the ones with sliders are set to the correct values? There are no numbers for those settings.
