NLSC Current Roster Update v2.8 Released...

A new version of the current roster update for NBA Live 08 (v2.8) is now available to download here. The rosters are accurate as of March 6th, 2009 and feature some more ratings updates throughout the league. For full release notes, see below or check out the official support thread.

It's not a huge update with the last roster coming out just under a couple of weeks ago but I've probably updated at least 25 players in 2.8.

I've discovered that I didn't reorder the Knicks' lineup in the normal version of the rosters (NLSC0809) in v2.8. I've uploaded the roster again with the Knicks' lineup fixed so if you haven't downloaded v2.8 yet you won't run into the problem and don't have to worry about it. Otherwise, you can download this fix. Just extract the files to the NLSC0809 folder and run knicks_fix.bat to update their lineup.

Once again, if you're downloading the full package from now on, the problem has been fixed so you don't have to download the fix; it's only for people who don't want to download the whole package again but would like to fix the Knicks lineup quickly and easily.

hey Andrew, you could make a changelog showing what's been changed from 2.7 to this one and it's an idea for the next updates too =D

Sorry, I'd rather not as that would be rather time consuming.

Andrew i noticed that Russell Westbrook can't dunk in the game...
what should i do to make him "Slam" ???

you can edit his dunkability and how high he can jump and his athletisism I suppose

Odd, despite the dunk rating I gave him it's assigned him a dunk package with only layups. The same thing happened for Derrick Rose, I've corrected both. If you'd like to correct that yourself in the meantime, I've given them a DUNKPACK value of 4. Both Rose and Westbrook have two entries in the database (one for their NBA teams, one for the Rookies squad), ID numbers 3198, 3201, 3354 and 3356.

If you come across any other players who seem to have inappropriate dunk packages, please let me know.

Andrew, the new coaches that are in this roster patch have real or generic CFs??

Some are real but where a proper face isn't available, I've used a generic one. I'm certainly happy to use any updates I have available to me so if someone would like to supply me with some more coach faces then I'll gladly substitute them for the generic ones. I'd rather use generic ones than have a missing texture.

Andrew, your roster doesn't have sigshots and gtms, right? your 2.6 doesn't..

Actually it does but if you're using a custom aiact.viv file you'll encounter problems, such as no sig shots and even crashes. I haven't actually removed any signature shots in the NLSC rosters.

pAPArAPaPat23, or you can download my sigshots patch - Extreme Animations. It will give all the first round rookies a unique sigshots of their own, and even some GTMs. It's completely up to you though.

Andrew, thanks for the update. I really appreciate your continuous support for Live 08 eventhough most people have tuned their attention into 2K9 already. Thanks a lot.

No problem at all. As long as I can streamline the updates for 06-08 and I have the time to maintain them, I'm happy to provide them for those still playing the older games.

Plus, who knows what will happen with NBA Live '10. If it comes out for PC and has the benefit of NBA Live 365 the same as the console versions I might not be doing much current roster work with it but rather special/historical rosters, in which case we can still update the older games for those who can't run the new ones. We'll just have to wait and see.

EA Sports did confirmed that Live '10 will be available for PC, no? If so then let's hope all the features will be the same as the console versions but I'm pretty damn confident that it will be in next gen if it is available on PC. There's no point using the current gen when 2K9 is on PC and is already in next gen port. If EA doesn't use a next gen port for Live '10 then they're just dumb.

I cant wait to use that feature, the one where you get to attempt to repeat an actual NBA game, with the same tendency and everything.

Well, not officially. At least, I'm still trying to get more of an official confirmation of it. It seems promising but I'm trying to remain cautiously optimistic. If it does return to PC then I would assume it will be a port of the 360 version. I'd be surprised if they did another PS2 version anyway but you never know, I thought 08 would be the last PS2 release but that wasn't the case.

Andrew, what i meant is in the players.db file, some players do not have sigshot and gtm like t-mac, etc..

They should have, I certainly haven't removed them.

Modifly, i couldn't find the patch you mentioned...
