hey there.Great patch. As always,, I;m just wondering whenever i try to play loaded roster you provided.I mean i installed your patch right after i finished installing nba live 2008 version. Every time i got to halftime or a timeout. The game crashes and i seem can't find away to save at dynasty.tnx.Really looking forward to play with your magnificent patches for this year's season. As we all know EAsports stopped producing pc versions of nba live.
Big BIg thanks..

That shouldn't have anything to do with the patch, I've tested the databases thoroughly and there should be no crashes. Nothing the patch does or includes affects timeouts or halftime anyway.

ei there again The Great Andrew..
I've tried reformatting my laptop.reinstalled a fresh nbalive 08 and installed your patch.
I played chicago at oaklahoma city in superstar level on 10min. and activated auto subs..But when the sound of the buzzer time out comes..it always crashes..

(random buzzer timeout throughout the game, but for my experience i never get passed through the halftime because it crashes when some random timeout occurs)im deeply sorry for being persistent.but i just want to play nba live 2008 with your remarkable patch...

please help me..i really want to start playing..

I'm not sure what the problem is, as I said the patch shouldn't cause any problems like that. If there was a database error, the rosters would cause the game to crash when you try to load them and if there were any problems with the art, the game would crash before you reached the tipoff.

Make sure you load the roster from the Load/Save menu. Trades, ratings updates and so forth have definitely been made in the update.

NBA Live 08 is supposed to support Vista so I shouldn't think so. Are you trying to use a No-CD patch or anything like that?

Andrew wrote:No sense in delaying this now that the PC version is starting to become available around the world. I'm compiling a list of the issues in NBA Live 08 as well as user information such as system specs so that we can forward the information on to EA Sports in the hope that a suitable patch is released.
A couple of notes:
Timeout/Quarter Crash: I'm playing a legal copy of the English version of NBA Live 08 on maximum detail settings and I've yet to encounter any of the crashes that a lot of people have been reporting. I've been trying different settings and doing my best to force the game to crash but as yet it's been working fine.
It's possible that there's a hardware conflict or some other problems that are causing this issue for some users and not others. Therefore, when giving feedback about the crashing problem be sure to provide your computer's specs (processor, RAM, video card, etc) and also any other information about the situation when the game crashes. The more info we can provide, the better our chances of getting a fix that addresses the problem for different hardware (if that is indeed the problem).
Ei Great Andrew found this post of yours on the other thread on the forums..Yes i'm sadly using a no-cd nbalive2008 or should we just call it a copy pirated cd.
So you mean this is the reason why my pc crashes??
That really would s*ck if i won't be able to play nba live 2008.
Really Hoping you could help me on this..
by the way im using this
acer aspire 4520 laptop.
my laptop specs.

Yes, that's why it would be crashing. Please note that discussing pirated versions is against Forum rules so I can't help you with that.
Why? You can download it directly from this very website. We're on a new, faster server now so we don't have to use Filefront so there shouldn't be any problems downloading it. I won't send any files via email that are available on the website and in any case the file is around 40 MB, which is not particularly convenient to send via email.

Andrew:
I have a few questions for you. All my questions are relative to NBA Live 2008 PC and the NLSC roster updates................
1. how do you determine what a player fg ratings, 3pt rating, ball handling , off reb, def reb, off awareness and def awareness, will be? Please be specific, I know you should be doing it base off of NBA Player stats and what not.
2. how do you determine the clutch rating, shooting rang, Hot spots, and scoring area.
I have a very specific reason for asking, it is something that is very important to me..........Also has anyone figured out how to change each individual team rating for fast break rating or half court ratings.
When you select two team to play and you can check to see if the team is a fast break or half court style of play and you can check to see if the team play alot of zone or man defense. I went into the database and tried to change teams to half court teams and I couldn't figure it out.
what determines is a team is mostly a fast break team.
Thank you for your time, a fellow ant amongst other ants.......................................
you know who I am because I leave my patent dots................ Happy New Year!

1. Basically, I work in ranges. I begin with a player's stats and assign ratings according to what the ratings do in gameplay and simulation (though with 08 simulated stats are completely messed up no matter what you do with the ratings). For example, a rating of 65-75 for field goals is usually sufficient for a good scorer with a jumpshot who shoots a decent percentage. It's the same principle for most of the ratings. A player among the league leaders in rebounds should have rebounding ratings that are at least in the 80s so that they'll rebound the same way in the game. Anyone who averages double digits in scoring should have at least a 70 for Offensive Awareness so that they can be effective in gameplay and simulation.
The reason I do this rather than a rigid stats-to-ratings formula is that there are exceptions. For example, Allen Iverson has traditionally shot a fairly low percentage for such a higher scorer but he needs a high field goal rating to be potent in the game and score a lot of points when you simulate. You could always use a formula (CERVANTES made a Stats-to-Ratings calculator if you're interested) and then make the necessary adjustments here and there. Otherwise I can try and make some more notes about the ranges I use.
2. Clutch is kind of subjective I guess, but it basically ranges from not very dependable (0 to probably about 40) to quite dependable (40-75) and killer in the clutch (75-99). That one's taken from observation and scouting reports. I let the game calculate shooting range (it does so based on three point ratings), if someone doesn't shoot a lot of threes but is known to have range it's usually best to give them a three point rating of 5-10 to assign a higher shooting range and allow them to hit the occasional one if the timing is right, they're wide open etc. I also let the game assign scoring area automatically as it doesn't have much of an effect and I haven't really touched Hot Spots either as they're barely utilised in the PC version.
I think the half-court/fast break tendency that's displayed really just comes down to the speed and quickess ratings of everyone on the team rather than a single team attribute.
That's it in a nutshell, as I said I can post some more notes if you're interested and I'll try and dig up that utility CERVANTES made as well if you like.

Mon Jan 19, 2009 6:41 pm
hey andrew, i have a question. the game is working fine for me, no crashes, etc except one thing.
the gameplay is slower then normal when i play using orlando and use their 08-09 jersey(home+away)
when i play using other teams, eg boston v lakers, gameplay is very smooth and everything is fine, but once orlando is used, gameplay experiences a slowdown, its not my computer since it runs smoothly ever since i bought nba live 08.
any reasons why its lagging abit??
Mon Jan 19, 2009 7:53 pm
It could be Orlando's jersey updates, I have a feeling they might be 2x (double resolution) patches.
Mon Jan 19, 2009 9:29 pm
any way of fixing it??
Mon Jan 19, 2009 11:00 pm
You could try reducing the resolution of the patches so that they're 1x updates.
This thread should help you out in doing that.
Mon Jan 19, 2009 11:09 pm
lol i dont no anything when it comes to resolution, even the tutorial got me confused, sigh, is it possible if you could change it to 1x?? help is appreciated
Tue Jan 20, 2009 10:00 am
Some other 08/09 jersey updates for the Magic have been released, you might want to check those out and replace the ones installed by the NLSC update in the meantime. I'll look at doing that though.
Tue Jan 20, 2009 10:13 am
ok thanks, where could i find other 08/09 magic jerseys?? could i find them on this forum or via google? ill try google right now
edit - lol through google i found the jersey patch on this forum

so i simply download the patch and place it into the sgms>uniform folder?
Tue Jan 20, 2009 10:34 am
That's right.
Tue Jan 20, 2009 12:19 pm
i downloaded vhan 08-09 orlando jersey pack and installed it correctly but it doesnt seem to be working for me, any other jersey for 08-09 orlando from another person??
got it working now, except when i play in dynasty mode, its still 2x instead of 1x, when i play eg 1v1, idividual practice, or a regular match, smooth as, but once its dynasty its back to 2x, how do i change the settings for dynasty so its 1x also??
