Most art updates for 07 can be used with 08 and vice versa, however 07 rosters cannot be used with 08 without a bit of work. 08 rosters can be used with 07 but also require a little work to function properly.

what do you mean with " a bit of work" ?what should i do for nba live patch working properly?

thanks andrew

NBA Live 08's players.dbf file uses fields that do not exist in NBA Live 07, so to convert 07 rosters for use with 08 you need to add those columns. If you're not very experienced with DBF editing I really wouldn't recommend it.

is it so difficult?how much work could it take?cause i'm very interested in that.

anyway thank for the explanation andrew

If you don't have much experience with working with the databases it's very easy to mess them up. It's relatively easy if you know what you're doing with the databases but if you're inexperienced it might be a bit too advanced. It would take a reasonable amount of work; in comparison, converting an 08 roster to 07 is much easier.

so if i understand it would be easy but it needs lot of work.

help me understanding.fields that need to be filled are those regarding hot spots and some other right?

if u fill those fields your job is over?

Sat Oct 18, 2008 9:06 am

Correct, though NBA Live 07 has Hot Spots so you don't need to add those to convert them for 08. But that's the basic principle.

It's the one time I'd recommend using MS Excel to edit the databases, but make sure you have a backup and that you save in DBASE IV (.dbf) format.

great...i hope i'll be able.

so once u modified players.dbf u have to replace the older one

that's all?

Sat Oct 18, 2008 9:11 am

You'll need to copy across the updated players.dbf and appearance.dbf. That's all you need to copy though.

Sat Oct 18, 2008 9:16 am

sorry for so many questions

i thank you much.

ciao :D

Sat Oct 18, 2008 9:18 am

No worries at all, best of luck with it. :)

Sun Oct 19, 2008 4:54 am

sorry andrew but when i go creating new columns i saw that the type is" 32 bit-integred field" while they should be 16 bit.

is it the same or how can i do for changing them?

Sun Oct 19, 2008 10:05 am

Which program are you using to edit the dbfs?

Sun Oct 19, 2008 7:50 pm

db commander pro

Mon Oct 20, 2008 5:24 am

andrew i was able to modify players.dbf and it seems to work good but there are problems with players appearance when in the game.

when u told me to modify appearance.dbf what did you mean?

what's the difference between live 07 appearance and live 08?

anyway i'm happy for my job cause it's the first time patching nbalive for me.

in fact i thank you for many suggests you gave me.

Mon Oct 20, 2008 9:32 am

IT SEEMS TO GO...there's one last problem...when players attempt spectacular shoots(fadeaway jumpers, sky hook ecc) game crashes...could it be because hot spots values and aiact values don't match?

if i solve this problem i think i've finished and finally play..

Tue Oct 21, 2008 11:48 am

There's no difference between the appearance.dbf files for 08 and 07, you should be able to just copy those across without editing them. For future reference, it's easier to add new columns using MS Excel through I normally I prefer to edit using DB Commander.

I'd say those crashes are most likely the result of invalid values in the signature shot and Go To Move columns, yes.

Tue Oct 21, 2008 9:22 pm

sorry andrew but where can i find right values fot that columns?
do i have to insert values for every player?

thanks

ps i think i'm very close to the right result...if i'll be able to fix those little bugs i could upload for every user.

Wed Oct 22, 2008 1:59 am

Well, if you put 0 in that columns for every player you won't have any crashes for sure.

Wed Oct 22, 2008 2:04 am

i tried but it seems not to be as you say.what else can i try?
i'm getting mad :-x

Wed Oct 22, 2008 2:12 am

If with 0s in those fields it still crashes, then probably something else causes the crash. But off hand it's hard to say what exactly.

Wed Oct 22, 2008 2:28 am

i really don't know, but i think it's due to the 3 columns named sghsht1 gotomove and gtmhotspot because game crashes everytime u take a particular shot, not a normal shot.

maybe i should try restarting without using excel.

anyway thanks for replies

If you're using MS Excel 2003 or later it shouldn't be a problem. I'd recommend adding the missing columns in Excel, making sure you save in DBASE IV format. Then add the values and make any further edits using DB Commander.

Sun Oct 26, 2008 5:39 am

yes but where i have to find the right values for each player?(for example for not so famous classic player)

and then using dbf commander it takes so much time adding values cause you can input one value each time while with excel u can add many values at the same time.

thanks guys
