Hey, do you know how to change the cap in a season that's already been started? If you just put the franchise.dat in, it screws up the season.

You'll need to place it in your Dynasty save folder. You might want to make a backup first, it's a good idea whenever you're tinkering with the data files (particularly those associated with a saved game).

once you have it extracted, you'll have a dynasty folder (named after the team you downloaded). you will simply copy this into your My Doc's NBA Live Save's (under a Dynasty folder I think or maybe just in a saves folder I'll check asap).

I want to start a 500$cap dynasty with a roster update implemented.

Load the roster patch and start a new Dynasty game. Once you've gone through training camp, save the game and exit NBA Live 08. You can then download the appropriate file for the team you've chosen (the top one contains all the teams) and extract the franchise.dat file to your Dynasty's save folder (no other files need to be overwritten).

When you do that, the game crashes once you do something that conflicts with the original franchise. If you go to your assistant, an error occurs. I simulated through a month and it crashed there also. I'm beginning to think that it's not possible to have such a patch.

You can probably overwrite everything except players.dbf and appearance.dbf. If you're using a roster update with updated playbooks, you should steer clear of overwriting teams.dbf as well.
