Question on Changing Starting Lineups Permanently in Dynasty

Hello, All.

Once a Dynasty is saved, is there a way to change the default starting lineup when playing in simulation mode? If so, how do I access the option. I thought it would be in Roster Management, but I don't think it is. I know it can be done if the game is played by the user, but that's a lot of games to play in the season...

Your help would be appreciated.

I think they got rid of player rotation for some reason, because i'm in the same boat as you. I play mine on playstation 2 and i can't find a way to change the rotation. But how many minutes do your players get, because almost all of my players get at least 10 minutes and the 6th 7nth and 8th men get at least 15 sometimes 20. I guess we should have seen it coming when they changed it in live 07.

I'm with you. I am playing on PS2, and it is playing ten deep. The cpu keeps starting a lineup that it ought not start.

The Player Rotation feature is still there in both the PS2 and Xbox 360 versions and can be used to change the starting lineup. I would have preferred the return of the traditional reorder roster function that's still used when modifying the rosters outside of Dynasty Mode.

I don't know exactly how to do it but you have to go to your inactive list to change the lineup and swap players. I'm simming a portland dynasty and lamarcus aldridge hasn't played one game yet and now he's playing because i messed around with the inactive list. Hope this helps.

I've played around with that as well but I haven't found it to be as effective as the traditional reorder rosters function.

You're right but i still don't know which was better, the traditoinal or the one in 07 with percentages.

I prefer the classic reorder roster function. The rotation is simply vanity.

For me it's the traditional method hands down. Starting percentages in particular were a decent idea in theory but didn't work in practice, especially in the hands of the CPU controlled teams.

The first player listed at each position will be designated the starter. If you highlight that slot on the rotation screen for the position you wish to change, you'll be able to nominate a new player as the starter.

Hmm...the PS2 version seems a bit trickier. It's possible if you have enough players for an inactive roster (ie at least 13) since you can reorder the lineup by moving players to the inactive roster and then into the starting lineup (and then from the inactive roster onto the active bench). Certainly not as desirable as the traditional management method.

I don't understand why they don't tried to develope the starting percentages thing and go back for old version.(Even worse) It's totally a regression from my point of view.

I wasn't really a fan of the starting percentages, especially in the hands of the CPU teams since it usually meant stars would randomly sit (and end up playing around 15 minutes of the game).

I mean they can develope the effects of playing percentage and when you set the rotation your players play for determined minutes. By this way you have the chance of setting your players playing minutes even if you use auto-substitution.

i'm very annoyed about this, i've always liked strictly using an eight man rotation.

I agree with you here Andrew, the sim engine this year makes starters play around 30-35 minutes a game, which is quite unrealistic, and making impossible to have a 8-man rotation.

Does anyone know where the reorder the roster section is in roster management on the NBA LIVE 08 pc version? Mine doesn't have one, and I only have one player on the inactive list--and it won't let me swap any of them on the inactive list. Please let me know. Is there a patch or something I can download to get the reorder screen or the percentage playing time thing? Thanks.

It's not in there by default. However, this file will add access to the reorder rosters menu in Dynasty Mode.
