sound problems

iam having a problem with my live 08 game, the sound just vanishes and sometimes gets back during the game, sometimes it comes and go and sometimes never come back. my live 06 never had this problem. then lately when i start my live 08 it hangs and my whole computer hangs with it, i have to reset this. i noticed that it also affected some of my games but not the command and conquer red alert2. now i installed my live 06 and this time it has a problem to, it hangs. i dont know what to do about it. thanks for the help

I think the first thing to troubleshoot would be your video card and sound card drivers. If you've recently installed an update, you might want to rollback to an earlier driver, or if you've got the drivers handy you might want to simply reinstall them.

thanks for the reply andrew, i know i can count on you. i have not upgraded my computer in any way, and i have just reformatted it many time and installing and reinstalling my live 08, however the problem still persists, to make matters worst, from the sound coming and going it now just hangs up on me when i open the program. And thats not all, i unistalled my nba 08 and installed my nba 06 to my surprise, it has the same problem. i have never encountered this. thank you again andrew for your quick reply.

What PC specs are you currently using? I was previously using a Pentium 4 to play Live 06 / 08 and I had encountered similar sound problems like yourself; be it loading the game or while playing it (more frustrating while playing). Recently upgraded my motherboard to a Intel 2 Dual Core 2 @ 2.66Ghz and everything works perfectly fine. No more sound problems.

How many games are currently affected by the issues you mentioned?

currently the affected games are command and conquer generals, nba live 06 and 08, these are the only games i really like. it first affected the nba live 08 then command and conquer generals and then live 06, im using a p4 2.4, and how come, it now has affected my live 06, i did not encounter this before. thank you andrew and bodz_999 for your replies

The only thing that springs to mind at the moment would be to roll back your drivers to an earlier version, reinstall an earlier version of your drivers if you have them or download and install the latest drivers for your hardware.

ei andrew, i reformated my pc first then installed nba 06, it now works again, i was able to get a roster patch from the download area, only that there are some pink faces but all is well and the game is s good as before thank you very much.

The pink faces are due to some missing art files. I suppose the roster is the latest from Andrew? It's still in Beta stage; so the cyberfaces are not included inside yet. It's more of testing the game to see if there are any glitches (apart from the art) like Freestyle Superstar moves etc.

There is a beta art pack in the NBA Live PC section though if you want to play with the latest beta and not have to deal with the missing textures.
