hello, can i ask someone to convert my roster files (originally for 07) to 08?
my problem is this roster is not nba, its a mod of nba live 07, but i already tried the sgsm folder copying and it worked for 08. now my only problem is the roster. i have read everywhere on the forums but all i see is editing the dbf files of a version to be played in the same version. i didnt find anything related to converting from rosters 07 to 08. so pls can anyone help me? i will try to upload it tomorrow and give a link to my roster because at home my internet is slow. pls help me. i really want to play this roster in 08. if at worst, can someone give a very clear explanation of what i must do (step by step) in converting roster files from 07 to 08?
thanks

First, of course, make a backup of your players.dbf file from this roster save folder.
Then open it with Excel. Move right to the end of fields with fields' names. The last field in Live 07's players.dbf file is probably "CHEMHAPPY", so next to it you have to create fields that are not in 07 but are in 08, so: "HOTSPOT_0", "HOTSPOT_1", "HOTSPOT_2" (...) to "HOTSPOT_13" and then "GOTOMOVE", "GTMHOTSPOT" and "SIGSHT1" (in this order, otherwise it will probably crash). You don't have to fill them for all players now, just create them and save the file in .dbf format. The rest of the editing is better to be done in DB Commander so open saved file with this program and fill in 0s in all fields that you created in all lines.
The rest of the files can be copied from 07, probably except birthtown.dbf and birthstate.dbf if you want to play dynasty with this roster.
If you do it correctly, roster will work but players won't have hot spots, signature shots and go-to moves.
If something goes wrong, start over from the backup and try again.
Hope it helps.

You can also copy across coaches.dbf and nicknames.dbf without any problems. Aside from that, the only files you need to copy across aside from any art updates is players.dbf (with the changes Spree outlined) and appearance.dbf.

sir, i already did what u have told me to. i made the columns then entered 0 in all of them then i did not include birthstate and birthtown files and it was loaded without any problems but the players are still the same as before.
btw, the roster im trying to edit is the slamdunk anime mod for 07. im trying to convert it to 08.
the players are still nba players, not the characters from slamdunk. all other things like jersey, team names, etc are working except the players themselves
sir, what do u think is the problem?
can u do it for me? please? can i send u the roster. only problem is the roster, the sgsm is working fine for me
please sir
also i cannot play any game, it crashes when i play

Strange. No idea what's going on. Probably I can't help you then.
Maybe try to do it again and see if you will still have the same results.

sir, another question, i entered the zeroes using excel because i dont have the software ur saying. do u think that is the reason the roster is not working?
Sun Oct 26, 2008 10:48 pm
I heard that Excel is often corrupting the files, so maybe. But I'm not sure, because I have never tried to edit files with Excel, except adding missing fields to make files work on other Lives.
So probably the only thing you can do to check it is to start over and this time enter the 0s with DB Commander, it's much safer to edit files using this program. You can get it
here.

I too would recommend using DB Commander wherever possible. Excel is handy for adding new columns but it's too easy to save the files incorrectly and render them useless.

sir, i have a problem. i use my ms excel 2007 at home to edit (add columns) the dbf but when i save it, it says that i cannot save it in dbf format, so i save it in excel format then i change the file extension from xls to dbf. do u think that is why it crashes? is it possible to add columns using db commander pro? or is there any way to add columns and be able to save the file in dbf format? please sir i need your help
Tue Oct 28, 2008 12:30 pm
Yes, that would be why it's crashing. MS Excel 2003 can save in the correct format but if Excel 2007 can't, then don't use it. Use DB Commander or DBF Viewer Pro instead.
Tue Oct 28, 2008 12:38 pm
no sir, i tried using ms excel 2003 at school to add columns in the dbf file and it says the exact same thing (cant save in dbf format) so thats why i dont have a clue how to add the columns. anyway, thanks for the advice. ill tyr the db viewer pro when i get home.
thanks sir

That's odd, I'm able to save the file in DBASE IV format using Excel 2003.
Tue Oct 28, 2008 11:16 pm
sir, i dont know how to add columns using db commander or dbf viewer pro. can u teach me how to add columns and enter the zeroes?
another question sir although offtopic:
do u have this patch here:
http://en.cnnbalive.com/Soft/ShowSoft.asp?SoftID=76
this is a patch of kenkaian which i read about here:
http://forums.nba-live.com/viewtopic.ph ... 732#979732
i already downloaded the shohoku additional patch but i cant download the slamdunk mod itself (slamdunk mod for 08). i already did the procedure (using IE, flashget). do u have the patch or know someone who can upload it somewhere and give me a link to download it? cos i really want to play it. sorry for the offtopic sir andrew and spree
Tue Oct 28, 2008 11:21 pm
I don't have that patch, sorry.
Wed Oct 29, 2008 2:30 pm
sir u havent answered my first question on how to add columns using the db commander or dbf viewer
Wed Oct 29, 2008 9:06 pm
In DB Commander, right click on the table and highlight "Action on Column". Select "Add/Delete" column. Type the new column name under COLUMN NAME. For the three columns you need to add to the NBA Live 07 databases, I'd recommend setting the TYPE to "INTERGER" and LENGTH for characters to 5.

sir andrew, i pm you
pls reply to me sir
Tue Nov 04, 2008 9:12 pm
I'm sorry, but I haven't received a message from you.
Fri Nov 07, 2008 4:22 pm
sir, the game still crashes whenever i load the roster
sir andrew, did u received my private message about outbox?
Sat Nov 08, 2008 12:41 am
sir andrew, did someone from the mods locked my private messaging? everytym i try to send a pm to anyone the message goes to the outbox instead of the sentbox. sir, if i have done anything wrong or abusive, please tell me first what i have done wrong before preventing/locking my private messaging. im sorry if i have offended someone in the past. sir andrew please reply
Sat Nov 08, 2008 2:24 am
I'm not sure about that but I think that if the message is in sentbox that means the receiver of the message has already read it. If it's in the outbox, that means he hasn't read it yet.

That is indeed the way it works.
