Editing Problems on the PS3

I noticed that you can only edit a current players number. The previous versions of nba live you can even edit the shoes of a certain player. I think this not possible right now. How can I edit a certain players attributes. Let's say I signed James Posey to play for the Celts. He is still in the free agent list and you need to sign him up. I tried changing his shoes and I'm not able to do it.

Don't think you can in 08. EA locked the accessory editing because it caused a bug in the game, but you will be able to edit them in 09.
