Default "Play Now" teams - are they editable?

Hey all,

Just wondering, can we change the default "Play Now" teams? I'd like to change it to Boston Celtics and LA Lakers.

Not as far as I can tell. It was possible up until NBA Live 2001 though.

[Double LC] released a patch that does just that.

I'd forgotten about that. I've no idea how he did it though, it might be best to ask him in his release thread.

It's in the exe. Just a hex search to find the names "Cavaliers" and Spurs", and replace them.

However, "Arenas", "GIARENA", nor his player ID could be found in the executable. Apparently the default player for Individual Training is not stored in the file. I cannot find James and Duncan neither.

I believe we were referring to the teams. I think you can change the default practice player by changing their ID in the dbf file, but it's possible it could cause a problem. Maybe if you find the ID in the dbf and look for it in the exe file?

Arenas' ID (947, I think) appeared in the exe file in a very unlikely place with all random characters around, so I don't think that is the one. Not to mention that "James", "LEJAMES", nor his player ID can be found as well.

And I knew you were referring to the teams - I've already changed mine to Lakers VS Boston without downloading Double_LC's.

teddyboy09, I use hexworkshop. CKal, I guess it would have to be a player ID change in the dbf then. For instance, try changing whoever is 948 to 947 and change Arenas to 948. See if that player ends up in practice mode.

I'll try, and I think the ID in the appearance.dbf has to be changed as well.

Pdub - I'm sure we are on the right track - when I exchange T-Mac's and Arenas' ID, and go to Individual Training, the default player is Bobby Jackson and along with that, it's a whole team of Houston consisting of like 14 BJs or something.

But we are definitely getting somewhere.

Oh, and Arenas disappeared from the whole roster while Vince Carter appeared in the Wizards and the Eastern All-Star. BJ made it to the West as well.

it doesn't work for me. it's simple .exe file, which writes: "Please insert the original NBA LIVE 08 CD/DVD"

Pdub, maybe you should try develop some batch files, since changing the player ID did something.

I exchanged Paul Pierce's with TD's, and Kobe with LeBron's, and in 1-on-1, the default players are Fisher and KG. But the whole Lakers team all became Derek Fishers, and the whole Boston team became KGs.

Spurs became a team of Brent Barrys and Cavaliers became a team of Ben Wallaces.

If you are talking about the Individual Training and 1-on-1, I just edited the rosters, but as mentioned above, the result is... um... funny.

I was going to try the other ones - 1-on-1 and individual practice, playoffs...but my eyes are hurting. Too many numbers.
