Free Agent Signing Explanations

Wed Feb 06, 2008 1:18 am

I am wondering if someone would be willing to explain the difference with the type of contracts you can sign free agents to. The reason I ask is because I'm in my Bulls dynasty (Live 2007 PC) and I am still looking for that point guard to run along with Duhon to keep Gordon fresh and I found Jannero Pargo, former Bull, just sitting in the free agent list.

I'm looking for explanations of the following contract types:

Mid-Level Exception
Minimum
Qualifying Veterans
Expired Contracts

Jannero Pargo falls under the Expired Contracts but has a salary of around 10M. I have a salary cap of -6M so I know 10M would be very difficult and probably unlikely but I'd still like to know what those mean.

I'm thinking minimum is probably the minimum that player of that position is allowed to be offered but does not mean you will be able to sign him to a contract. The other contract types are not so clear to me and how they work.

Thanks

PS. I did search the whole forums for "Free Agent Signing" and found nothing, thus the reason I am asking now.

Just to add to that...

NBA Live's handling of the mid-level exception is fairly simplified. You can only offer the whole exception to one player.

Qualifying Veterans refers to players who are eligible to be re-signed under the Bird Exception.

My Celtics Dynasty has already-22.75,I use mid-xxxxx to sign Monta Ellis.succeed.Mid-xxxxx can always succeed. However, you can only use 1 time when the person you used mid-xxx to sign is in your roster.
