Stuck inserting 512x512 jerseys

Postby Sion on Thu Jan 17, 2008 3:15 pm

Ok Im having a little trouble trying to get my uniforms ingame.
I have followed the tutorial:

Edit all files in the viv. to newyhome, texture0!buni for the template then place them in the fshline directory, run the thing, then hex edit all files in the viv back, rebuild with big gui and put back in the folder, which gives me this:

What the hell am I missing? (and please dont answer the numbers lol)

Thanks guys ;)

the base chicxxxx.fsh, the texture inside of that needs to remain at 256, you cant bump it up to 512
Opinions are my own.

^Correct. You also have no alpha channel in your PNG, causing all that bright glare. If you don't mind it, no biggie.

If you want to reduce that glare, follow these instructions. Duplicate the jersey layer on to another layer. Desaturate the new layer, then select all(CTRL+A) and copy(CTRL+C). Next, hide that layer and create a layer mask(Layers>Layer Mask>Reveal All) on the original layer. Go to the channels tab of the Layers window, and select the layer mask and make it visible, then paste(CTRL+V) in the desaturated image we copied. It will make the image look transparent, but don't get worried. Save that file as a png and reimport it using the 512 batch files. No more glare in-game.

Nope that didn't work either:

Now I have followed the tutorial to the letter, and now I have done it the way you have said, now is it that fshline just doesn't work for NBA Live 08 or what,

If someone is inserting kits to the game on a 512x512 template please tell me how you do it.

Thanks ;)

You did something wrong. I'm guessing this is chicaway or chicserd. I bet you still have the 512x512 chicserd.fsh/chicaway.fsh in your sgsm directory. It HAS to be 256x256. What you are seeing is a very common symptom of trying to 2x a jersey the normal way. What JaoSming said is completely correct.

ye your right, I put 1 in to test the jersey and forgot, now there is a different problem, the fucking jersey is the original ingame one, I have done it with fshline 6 times now and it is still the original jersey.

I really appreciate your help guys because I'm about to put my fist through this screen lol

thanks for the tip on the glare, Pdub

no exactly. youif tyour using fshx uyou can import 512, but DONT change the natural 256 size leave has iis. it still be 256 size, but the 512 will resize to fit the 256 and look better than origanal 256 ever did. i build my jers in 512 then let the fshx resize it when i import the image in place. it looks to much better belevie me than the orginal 256 oness. that as close 512 we can get i think at the moment with the number issues

ok thanks for your input but this defeats using fshline and goes against what Pdub and JaoSming are saying, also i know you can manually change the Unifroms to 512x512 but you have to do it in fshx and do the numbers 1 by one till all are done, could be a very very tedious process.

Ea Should seriously take a leaf out of Konami's book when making sports games

1 file for the Uniform and 1 file for the numbers:

not only would it be better for us to edit, but it would save them a hell of a lot of time also ;)

You are really lost in the process. What mcoll86-2 is saying is the same thing JaoSming said.

the base chicxxxx.fsh, the texture inside of that needs to remain at 256, you cant bump it up to 512

Which is also the same thing I said.

I bet you still have the 512x512 chicserd.fsh/chicaway.fsh in your sgsm directory. It HAS to be 256x256.

It does not defeat using fshline. Here is what you do. Leave chicxxxx.fsh as the original. Do not use FSHx to change the resolution(Or at the very least make sure it is only 256x256, just do it, don't ask questions). Import your image into the chicxxxx.fsh file, leave/put it in the sgsm directory. Now don't touch it. If you already did the 512 jersey batch files with fshline and the hex editing, then go in-game and look at your jersey. It should look fine.

OK, I have read through this and the tutorial now and I can recite every post word for word now, I have made a pic to try and see if it makes sense of my problem:

Image

1st pic, I have made it all 512 to the size I originally asked about.
2nd pic, I have used fshline and then as u said placed the fsh file in the sgsm folder at 256x256
3rd i have kept the fsh file n the sgsm folder and used the original game viv file, unedited

So Question 1: Is there no way to achieve this quality without having the numbers fucked or having to increase the number size of every file in the viv 1 by 1 using fshx?

2: if not what is the point in me editing the viv file in fshline if it gives me the same result as using the original viv with an edited fsh file in the sgsm folder

thanks guys.

Are you even using the 512 jersey batch files? Have you been here - http://www.nbaliveforums.com/ftopic48622.php ? I don't see how this is not working correctly.

That's the only way to get 512 jerseys. The VIV file should end up anywhere between 6-12 mb when you are done. You shouldn't even have to touch the jersey fsh file.

Im more confused about this than you believe me, when I run a batch file (55 or full) it runs on and then spits out every single file in the viv 3 times (twice in the fshline folder & once in the work folder) but it looks to me like ingame nothing has changed.

BTW Im using that bastad of an OS that calls itself Vista, could this be contributing to the problem?

Hmm, I don't know about Vista. As long as you are renaming and hex editing the newyhome.viv file after the batch process is done, it should be ok. Those extracted files from the viv in the fshline and work directories should be automatically deleted when the process is done. Open that viv file with wDolffin and open the "00" number file and make sure there is a "texture0!buni" image of your 512 jersey along with the "texture1!back" image. You can also just look and see if the viv has jumped in size from say 300 kb to several mb, then it's definitely working correctly.
