Arm Raising

Alright, either this has been posted before, or I'm the only one with this problem.
When you push the right analog stick to the top, while on defense, your player will raise his arms. I always thought that this was very effective when the cpu shoots the ball.
However, in live 08, when I raise the arms and the cpu shoots, my player automatically jumps towards the player. And the cpu isn't dumb, so they lean in, draw a foul and get two or the most time 3 free-throws.
I mean, wtf, that's what I want to prevent with only raising my arms.

Is there any way to get that back (like from 07) that my player will keep raising his arms and doesn't jump when the other player shoots?

It's all about the CPU assistance. Try lowering it guys.

And BTW,

I'm using keyboard, and my Bind keys for arm raise is only one.
Anyone familiar with bind keys?

I don't think that it has anything to do with CPU assistance. By the way it's always turned off in my games. It's just Live 08. If you don't want to get the foul for that, modify your sliders.
Somehow arm raising is effective or may i say was effective. But now i got 2 or 3 players on the opposite shooter and he still hits. It's because of the superstar domination 08 has.

One thing i don't like about the raising arms is that it doesn't look realistic at all. Cmon everyone online was running with players all the arms raising high in the sky to lower the shooting percentage of the oppontent. That aint basketball. Apart of this advantage you could get in some earlier version 05 or 06 also an offensive foul if you ran into some player with arms raising high.

The problem is that you don't get any speed limitations for raising your arms high. In real life you defend better the shooting of your opponent but also it is easier to beat you in a penetration.

So this is a compromise here what ea made. If you raise your arms the negative thing is that your opponent can fake and then beat you in a penetration. Not the best solution but better than before where everybody is running with arms high on the court. It looks pretty unrealistic when arms raising high is the most effective defense. There must be some disadvantage what takes the decision to you if you wanna defend his shoot or his penetration. On the other hand raising arms high in the NBA doesn't have effective at all on most players. Yes you have to jump to put your hand in the opponents face to get some effective on lowering his shooting percentage. This is not college ball where raising arms high is enough to lower your opponents shooting percentage.

And yes it's better when you have some limitations of speed movement in the defense when you raise your arms then jumping. On the other hand when you go down in the defense you should defend the penetration better but also gives the opponent a better shooting percentage when he shoots.

So in my opinion the effectiveness for a lower defense stance has to be increased and YES arms raising high MUST have some kind of disadvantage. If you want a realistic game, try changing your sliders in this way that you also get some disadvantage when you raise your arms. And YES one way is getting a foul called for.

I don't think there's any solution as it's not a setting, the "hands up" stance results in your player automatically jumping to challenge a player with the ball if he attempts a shot this year, presumably by design.
