Talk about NBA Live 08 here.

We desperately need a patch for the substitution bug and the sim engine! Anyone know if EA will release a patch or not? If not I just need to know so I can either throw the game away or try to sell it on ebay for $5!

Just use the patches we've come up with here, these problems have been mostly solved.

what? There are patches that resolve the sub and sim engine?

i feel u dude they need a patch for this game. I feel this game is utter crap and i feel like uninstalling it. Its just a waste of hardrive space IMO

They're still improving on a sub fix that involves adjusting fatigue ratings, and frankly, I'm already happy with the one they released earlier. There's also a new sim engine file that someone just came up with, check the announcements forum.

We tried adjusting the fatique rating and that got us no where!

There is no fix right now for the sub problems. Fatigue fixes do nothing to solve the problem of guards never subbing, or C subbing at every whistle even for your team with auto sub turned off.
There is also no fix for the problem with defenders no being able to stop an offensive player. Any offensive player can slid past or push through the whole opposing team for a dunk or layup every time.

Guards definitely sub out for me, often before PF or C's. Try adjusting your sub sliders to 50 and making fatigue effect low. I have it on normal and it works fine for me. (after you install both the fatigue fix and tuning fix of course)

It's starting to look quite unlikely as it's been a few months now without any word.

The substitution is fucked up! There is no way to fix unless EA makes a patch which likely won't happen. For those who said sub is working, you're not even realizing that by increasing sub frequency, cpu subs more but then it becomes unrealistic..like cpu subbing players within 2 min. of first quarter...no starter gets sub out that quick.start players getting sub out half way through first quater and cpu calling redicilious time out just to sub out players...and every time cpu calls time out, your player's stamina goes back to full so you have no reasons to sub your players out anymore! It's not about cpu just subbing but subing correctly and realistically!

That's not what actually happens. The substitutions are quite realistic if you'd ACTUALLY LISTEN AND TRY THE NEW PATCHES. Download Maek's fatigue fix and use the combination of 06 and 07 tuning files that people have found success with. Try different things, maybe change your quarter length. As for your players' stamina, even if they restore significantly between quarters, you DO still have a reason to take them out because you want to have your starters still fresh later on at the end of games. It's not perfect, but improvements are visible. Now if this is too much for you, go ahead and stop playing because we don't want to listen to you any more.

Charley...I've spent more time trying to resolve this sub bug than you realized..I was acutally one of the first to suggest it was the tuning folder that was reponsible for this bug..we've realized that it's beyond this folder and may be coded in the game...Are you serious? This game sut out realistically? Actually take the time and monitor how CPU is subbing out players. You will see that it's by far from real!

I have spent lots of time experimenting and tweaking too and have been playing this game everyday. As I said before, what we have right now is definitely not perfect, but it is good enough that we can play it. I don't know what exactly you're looking for, but the starters definitely stay in for more than two minutes and the minute distribution is very good. And what's wrong with the cpu calling a timeout to sub players? That is so minor! Can you honestly tell me you've tried the newest fix in this thread???
http://www.nbaliveforums.com/ftopic53324.php I know you've been to it before but the newest fix was updated a couple days ago.

I like your positive thinking, but man, the game just plain sucks. There's no way around it. You can make it nice and pretty with new patches or improve it slightly with tweaks, but a pig with lipstick on is still a pig.
I am praying they put it to next-gen on the PC. I'd spend good money to upgrade my PC if we had a decent basketball game.

All right, I'll just continue to enjoy this game and you go ahead and wait for your next generation game.

I patched mine by installing Live '06. It has fast breaks without the '08 wing men running down the sides for open layups or dunks every time, it has working subs, it has short seasons, it has intervention, I was amazed at how good the game was.

That's a vid of a CPU run, real fast break.
What most amazes me is the way EA spun some features as "new features" such as intervention in sim games. They take it out of one version, then put it back in the next year as a "new" feature.

If my memories serves me right..the main compliants with 06 was no mid jumpers. All the shots taken by cpu was either at the basket or the 3 pt. line. Overall, I agree that 06 has been the better game!
Wed Jan 09, 2008 10:30 pm
There was a bit of a midrange game in Live 06, the main problem was the comeback logic was pretty vicious at times (though at times it kept things interesting).

Why improve an annual game when you can trick dumbasses like us into buying Live 09 with "NEW Improved Features!!! " Maybe this year, they'll add wristbands and call it a complete graphics overhaul.
