Problems with changing .dbf files

I tried to change the players.dbf file from my save of a Trail-Blazers dynasty and I wasn't able to do it. In NBA Live 07' I didn't have any problems. What can I do to alter the files? (The change I wanted to make was in Greg Odens destiny, with the current number at 6).

Search the dbf for all instances of Greg Oden and change their destiny values. Then load your save and see if that worked.

It won't let me save it. It says "incorrect date". I didn't have any problem altering the .dbf files in 07`. Is there some kind of protection on the files (something like read only)?

There's no protection on them as far as I can see. Are you using DB Commander to edit the files?
