Help, to record NBA live 2008 via video

Hie there,
Thanks for helping out. I have a question here. You see, I’m a NBA live gamer and I always wanted to record the video of my gaming process. I found a video gaming software known as fraps (www.fraps.com) which helps to record the video. But however, the process of running the fraps programme and running windows at the same time slow the PC down. Hence, I figure the best way to do it is to have another PC to record the video gaming process.
I plan to use my old desktop, a Pentium IV 2.4g to record for the video on my Laptop, which is a dual-core 2. I figure a way out how to do this is to connect the my old PC to my laptop, find a software that will display, whatever display I have in my laptop, it will appear on my old PC.
(Think like having having a few TVs running from one cable. So if the user change the channel, all the TVs will change channel because they are running on the same source. So if I am playing games on my laptop, the desktop monitor will shows I am playing games. I know I can just plug it to the monitor, but bear in mind I want to use the desktop to display the games, so it has to run through the desktop instead on the monitor )
My questions:
1) What is the software that will help me over this?
2) Is there a better way to do this? I know by setting up a camera and record is the easiest way. But I want to record this via PC.

Fraps is definately a great software to get screenshots or videos from pc games.
I think, you should first try some screenshots. I think it's "F10" key as default. If you press "F10" while playing, it can capture good screens from your game. I think you should try this first, then we can help you better later

The only way to do this is video out on the notebook to video in on the PC (video capture card,) so it's grabbing it as a useful signal.
There is software that slaves one computer display to another, but I don't think the signal is useful because the slaved PC isn't in control of the screen.
MaxiVista is a software that can display one computer output on another computer, but I don't think you can record on the slaved computer.
