on my ps3 it takes 4 trivia questions for every game, intervened or whatever. Which isn't too bad.

One time though it went berserk and froze but kept cycling through trivia questions (i couldnt answer them), but it went through tons before I realized it froze and turned it off.

But loading is 3-4 trivia questions every time for me, hasn't been different at all.

I don't think its normal. I think you should return it and get another copy.

Yeah, mine seems to go through 10-13 trivia questions... :?

wow! i need your help! Something crazy happened to me!!
I removed the hard drive of my xbox 360 and it loaded in 40 seconds. But with the HD it loads 3 minutes
Whats up?

Mon Oct 08, 2007 4:03 am

i have 4 or 5 trivia questions and for online games sometimes it takes 5 questios and other times it gives me 15 questions depending on connection.

Mon Oct 08, 2007 4:46 am

That would just be due to the online connection (how fast the connection is).

I'm having the same problem too. I have a Xbox 360 Pro Aussie PAL (I think that's the name, well it's definitely not a core or elite) and it takes 5 minutes or even a little longer to load. Thank goodness I can change the TV Channel on the remote and watch telly. Hope EA Sports can address this via Xbox Live through a game update. (Y)

A couple of times I've answered around 20 trivia questions while I've been waiting for the game to load; it seems most if not all Xbox 360 versions are experiencing the long loading times.

I contacted EA Customer support about it and this is the answer I received...

Hello!

Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts Technical Support. I apologize for the difficulty you're having with NBA Live for Xbox 360.

It could be an indicator that the console is having difficulty reading the game disc. This could be for many reasons; usually this is because the game disc is damaged or unreadable but in some situations this can be the sign of a more serious issue with your X-Box 360.

Please try the following steps that might help resolve your issue:

Check the game disc.

If there are any noticeable scratches or smudges on the surface of the game disc, try to clean them off by using a non-abrasive cotton cloth.
Note: Do not rub hard and do not rub in a circular motion as this could further damage the game disc.

If there aren’t any noticeable scratches or smudges on the surface of the game disc, try using that game disc in another X-Box 360
.
If the game disc works in another system, this is an indicator that your X-Box may be damaged. For information on getting your system repaired or replaced, you will want to contact Microsoft directly for assistance. You can contact Microsoft at 1-800-4MY-XBOX .
If the game disc does not work in another system, this is a good indicator that the disc is damaged or defective. To acquire a replacement game disc you will want to refer to your manual for warranty information specific to your product.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Unplug all non-official peripherals.

If you own any non-official X-Box 360 peripherals, make sure they are unplugged prior to starting the console.
Example: Interact PowerPad, MadCatz Gamepad Pro, Saitek Adrenalin Pad.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Remove game related save data.

Power on the X-Box 360 without a game disc inside to display the X-Box console.
Select Memory.
Select Hard Disc.
Find and delete any save file with a name matching the game you are having trouble with.
Once all of the save files have been removed, restart the console with the game disc inside.
Try playing the game.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If none of these troubleshooting steps resolved the issue.

Then it is possible that the disc may be defective and needs replacement. However before trying to have the game replaced by EA, you can try have the game replaced at the store where you purchased as much as possible to avoid incur additional shipping charges if you let EA replace the game.

The EA Warranty information is as follows:

REPLACEMENT

If your game disk has been determined to be defective upon purchase, our warranty department can replace it free of charge. Click on the following link for replacement instructions and associated fees: http://ea.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg/p ... mation.php

RETURN

If you wish to return the game, more then likely the store you bought it at will not accept the return because the box has been opened. In this case, you can send the game back to our Warranty department and we will give you a sealed copy of the game so that the store will accept the return. Click on the following link for replacement instructions: http://ea.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg/p ... mation.php

Should you require further assistance about this or any Electronic Arts games in the future please visit our website and review our extensive Self Help knowledgebase (http://support.ea.com).

Sincerely,

Chris P.

I did my own little experiment with this last night and this morning.

I attempted the following and failed to get the load times to diminish.
Signing out of XBL
Not having a profile signed in
Playing while signed into XBL but having no saves associated with Live 08
Loading the game with the controller on top of my head like a hat
Unplugging my iPod from the 360
Using my SDTV instead of my VGA monitor

Yet this morning I plugged in my XSATA to my computer and started the 360 (this is the same as physically removing the harddrive) and I got a load time of ~5 questions. (I really miss shooting around while loading)

So my question for someone who has a memory card, could you unplug the harddrive (if you have one) and only use your memory card and see if it loads faster?

Yes, I've gone through all of the same steps essentially and the only thing that works is unplugging my harddrive. It's really upsetting because I even tried deleting my saves because I thought it could be a bad save on the harddrive causing it and nothing. I even cleared the cache on it and still no luck. The only viable option as of now is unplugging it.

which suckas cause those default rosters aren't really much to brag about. But if someone with a 360 memory card could try out that other method that'd be great.

Tue Oct 09, 2007 1:46 am

Yeah, I experience that too. . I just keep my reciever on the game so I know when it changes and watch TV lol!!! I think the game is too detailed that's why it takes long

Tue Oct 09, 2007 2:17 am

No, EA specifically said it shouldn't take that long. There is never any reason to have load times to be over a minute unless it's for online games. The whole thing is really frustrating because I'm actually enjoying the game so far. I tried saving stuff on my flash drive Jao, but I guess Xbox won't save stuff on the flash drive, only can import images and music, not saves...

I have done this before and endorse this method.

Tue Oct 09, 2007 4:01 am

hmm on my ps3, it usually takes 3 questions, and at most a fourth that they don't show an answer to.

Thu Oct 11, 2007 11:32 pm

I'm skeptical that everyone experiencing this problem has a serious issue with their Xbox 360 or has a damaged disc because it seems to be widespread. I'm not experiencing similar issues with any other games.

That's my exact thoughts Andrew. I contacted the technical support with essentially the same thing you just did and am still awaiting feedback.

disc is unreadable errors are pretty common for some reason, even on the first day i had it. an update coming soon i hope.....

Thu Oct 18, 2007 10:07 pm

I haven't run into that one yet, only the lengthy loading times. Of course now that I've said that, Murphy's Law ensures that it will happen to me very soon.
