The Stats Issue - Any Solutions?

Postby Damon on Tue Oct 09, 2007 12:33 am

For those who are playing NBA Live 08, by now you probably have noticed what I'd like to call the "stats issue". That is, unrealistic statistics for pretty much all players in the league. Common examples include:

- At least a dozen guys averaging 30+ points per game, including Portland rookie Josh McRoberts.
- Chris Bosh regularly scoring 5-6 3-pointers per game, and a number of guys (centres included) taking (and making) a huge amount of 3-pointers.
- Tim Duncan leading the league in rebounding (no problem) with the gaudy number of 8 rebouds per game.
- League leaders in the steals and blocks category averaging less that 1 steal or block per game.
- Centres having the highest assist numbers in the league, and guys like Steve Nash only averaging around 4-5 assists per game.

And so on...

Despite only having the PS2 version of the game a few days (it probably effects all systems, I don't know),, I've tryed everything I can think of to rectify this (what I consider to be) major problem. I've edited player sliders, and the gameplay sliders (although I realise the latter probably has no effect on simulated games), but there's no changes.

Has anyone got a solution to this?

I play mine on the playstation 2 to and its strange like what you said about josh mcroberts though. But i think the only way for us is to shorten the quartor legnth. Haven't you noticed that there's a total lack of defense? I remember in 07 i regularly got5 steals and 9 blocks almost every game, now i barely get 2 steals and 1 block a game. But maybe by making the quartor legnth to about 4 minutes a game you will have normal stats. And i know what you mean about centers shooting threes. Although i haven't done a dynasty nash and haven't come across him having only four assists. I have a question for you, do you have conley and noah for your playstation 2? Because i don't have those guys for mine.

Yea I'm thinking guys like Mike Conley, Joakim Noah and Yi Jianlan aren't in the PS2 version. Pretty strange considering they were some of the most hyped rookies in the 2007 NBA Draft.

As for shortening the quarter length, I've tryed that as well. It obviously fixes the scoring issue somewhat (although there's still an abundance of 3's), but it doesn't help the defensive and rebounding issues. It's a strange problem that I didn't think would be so difficult to remedy.

I see what you mean about big men shooting 3s to, i did a dynasty i think it was yeterday, and they had chris bosh shoot 5 to 6 3's. I'm with you though, i wish there was some way for players to get more steals and blocks.

Sadly, these issues can only be rectified(if they can be rectified) with the PC version when it gets released.
