Seems like it can be abused easily.

Nice, was just watching the vid, and was wondering where the article went.

strike 2 for EA trying to get Ray Allen's new number right, haha.
Does look like it can be abused easily, but they should make it kinda blend together better, like with a gradient or something. Not so boxy.

It's not bad.. player movement still seems a bit jerky...

So its not like they'll make it each time, in the video, if they had them miss, it would be kind of weird. It is kinda of like the Freestyle Superstar thing, but only for shooting, and you won't be making each one. Also the hotspots for players will be changing throughout the season, so that's something that sounds pretty exciting.
On a different note, I like the video embedded in the IGN article

what do you guys think about rip hamilton, ray allen, and bruce bowen's sig shots???
Fri Jul 06, 2007 11:02 am
i never really payed attention to rip hamiltons shot, so i don't know if it looks like it or not, but i like how bruce bowen's shot looks, and i think they got ray allens shot right..i like how its a little quick fast release, just like his real shot

To me, it seems like they totally nailed Ray's jumpshot.

The hot spots court overlay looks bad to me. They could have at least use some transparency or only showed the hotspots within a certain radius of the player.
Fri Jul 06, 2007 12:11 pm
Yea i thhink they should make it look more like your on a court and not lego island..lol

Now about hotspots: I think it's a good idea, and brings some "color" to the game:D Actually it's a great addon!
I loved the Jumpshots they were very authentic especially Ray Allen's! it was like in a highlight!
What I didn't like about the vid is that the other 4 players and their defenders don't really do anything! They stand still and look at the player who is putting up the shot! I Hope they fix this because this would again make the game a bit of a letdown! I mean players could run a play, or set screens to one another, cut to the basket or something! and post up.
I would love to see a vid showing how the post up game developed! They should add a whole lot of moves down in the paint, cause for example Shaq cannot just dunk like he does in live 07! he can shot babyhooks, weird looking fade-aways, and layups!
so it would be nice to do some justice to bigmen!

all those visual disadvantages can easily be solved with patching. now only if they made that for the pc that is...

It's me or the Sixers have a new design for their jerseys

I don't like the HOT SPOT. I think if a player is a good shooter or a good scorer he'll shoot according to that. With the HOT SPOT poor offensive players like Bowen can score 15 points easily when abusing the Hot Spot

I agree.
This should be a nice feature but I hope that the cpu won't abuse it.
By the way, Bowen stepped out of bounds in the first clip.

I believe they took the layout for the Hot Spot from a display on NBA.com. The data for each of the players comes from the NBA, at any rate. The display can be toggled, once you get to know the players on your team and their most effective area on the floor you won't need to bring it up anyway. I agree that a more transparent overlay would have been a bit more aesthetically pleasing.
Hot Spots aren't really something that can be abused from what I saw, players tend to shoot better from those spots but they aren't automatic.
