Change the rating system?

I think the rating system could use some tweaking. Basketball is obviously a game of chance. Shooting, Passing, Rebounding... All a game of a chance. I don't feel that the rating system really reflect this concept, and here's why I think that.

I watch guys make suggestions on who deserves a boost in their ratings for the next roster. And the suggestions I see are pointless, in my opinion. Guys are asking for 2 and 3 point raises, and some are saying 4 and 5 point raises are too much. It made sense to me at the time, but after playing for a while and simulating a few seasons, I come to find out that the rating system is quite flawed.

The rating system isn't so perfect that a 2 or 3 point raise causes a notable change in a player's ability. This is why I think they should narrow the scope a bit. If you're going to have a 0-100 number rating system, I think raises should be done in increments of 5 or even 10.

Narrow the scope a bit. Take NBA Street Vol. 2, for example. 6 points was the maximum (even though the regular NBA players could only get to 5).

If Kobe's shooting rating was a 5, and Vince's was a 4, it was evident in the game that Kobe was a better shooter. There was a big difference. But what if Kobe was an 83 and Vince an 80 in Live 07? Not much of a difference at all, really. As I said earlier, basketball is a game of chance, but I don't really feel that with a 2, 3, or even 5 point raise actually increases the chances of the player making more jump shots, grabbing more rebounds, or making better passes.

Another issue... If I have one player with a 3 point ranking of 74, and another of 75... Am I to assume that the player with a 75 ranking is actually the better 3 point shooter? I mean, really, why even bother distinguishing one from the other? In the NBA Street rating system they would both be either the same. Now, I'm not saying that NBA Live should take NBA Street V2's system, because it too has it's flaws... But if you maybe raise the max stat from 6 to 10, or even 20, I think we'd be looking at a far better rating system.
